Switzerland takes 2 Uighur brothers held at Guantanamo

Some people are simply so anti-American that no rational argument will dissuade them and they will even support the most reprehensible regimes on earth in their anti-Americanism. how sad.

Ohhhh...that is so moving, baby..kiss are you crying? ya...let it out! It is sad, as sad as you would never find any quote of any "Anti-American" you have identified here defending the Chinese, and it will simply prove that your understanding skills of reading texts are quite poor.

Rational, irrational? Hahaha..... this is the last resource of empty rhetorics? what is that? tell me ... if there is even a little recognition of human atrocities in your mind just to be able to talk about "rationality"..
Rational is something that is convenient for a human or group of humans... and that is why I am irrational in front of you or your friends.

Anti-Americanism? I correct you Anti-US!! there is not such a thing as Anti-Americanism of an American because I was born in this continent as my ancestors were. They did not come from a stinking vessel. Just check the map of the AMERICAN CONTINENT.
What if we start "Anti-Asianism" instead of "Anti-Chinese "?

StressFree: Bill Walsh should have been President...Or Bill Belichick...

They are both way to smart for that, Stress. Being number one in the US Gov't is like saying....let me stand here...now please kick me. That President Obama is learning. He is pretty thin skinned right now.

President Reagon's birthday today. Some are saying he qualifies for Mount Rushmore. Think about it.....came to office with CSSR in power in Russia, a WARSAW pack in eastern Europe, and bad economics here in the US. Walked out of office with a broken Russia, a free eastern Europe and a solid US economy. He did not fire a shot to do it.

Bet if it was proposed in Washington, the DEMs would go bananas on the idea. Say it was a REP conspriracy to degrade Obama's presidency. Not sure how many places are left on Mount Rushmore for new President to be sculpted. We don't have to worry about Nixon, GWB, Clinton, Carter, or GWB Senior getting a spot. But...Reagon...would fit very well there.

Since Reagon did not get a Nobel Peace Prize.....kind of seem fair that Mount Rushmore and Ronnie meet up. Clearly it was Reagon's Peace thru Strength that played such a major role to Russia's fall.

So if the Europeans wish to honor Obama with a Nobel, I have no problem with that. Since they have passed over Reagon in making the selection of Obama...we should honor Reagon here in the US.

I wasn't referring to you specifically or even specifically to this thread. I am an observer of body of arguments made by those who are opposed to the US. They often are NOT sensical and often show support for tyrants and true aggressors. It never ceases to amaze me how people support tyrants (i.e. Cuba, China, Burma, Saddam, etc.) in order to express their anti-Americanism.

In response to: Rational, irrational? Hahaha..... this is the last resource of empty rhetorics? what is that? tell me ... if there is even a little recognition of human atrocities in your mind just to be able to talk about "rationality"..

Supporting the un-supportable is the act of the irrational. Supporting thugs and dictators is irrational. Supporting states that invade not for limited purposes but for indefinate occupation and annexation for the purposes of LIMITED and RESTRICTING the rights of those in residence there is the act of the irrational. Don't like it -- tough!

In response to: Rational is something that is convenient for a human or group of humans... and that is why I am irrational in front of you or your friends.

Heaven knows why you are irrational. I am not going to try to explain why you are so anti-American.

In response to: Anti-Americanism? I correct you Anti-US!! there is not such a thing as Anti-Americanism of an American because I was born in this continent as my ancestors were. They did not come from a stinking vessel. Just check the map of the AMERICAN CONTINENT.

I know the difference between American as the nationality and American as people from the Americas. Fortunately, Chinese has two words to express these two concepts of "American" and the context of these posts is clear and the fact that you can't ascertain it or are simply being pigheaded is your problem, not mine.

In response to: What if we start "Anti-Asianism" instead of "Anti-Chinese "?

Except that the term American clearly has two separate meanings anc can be used either as the adjective form for people from a country (i.e. the United States) or the continenents that make up North and South America. On the other hand, there is no use of the word Chinese that can accurately be applied to all of the people of Asia, though it itself has a double application -- one again which the Chinese language makes a clear distinction between. Again, that you have to make this old, stale point regarding the word "American" shows that you are simply irrational and nonsensical in your Anti-Americanism.

Antjo39:
Well, I wonder first, who is the first supporter of China nowadays? Do you know that? Well, exactly the country that will heroically die fighting for your freedom.... (and don´t repeat your rhetorics... or just the democratic American paradise making huge business with such a horrible dictatorship is not an act of complicity and support..)

1. I never called America (the U.S. sense) a paradise. No place is a paradise. No place is perfect. And if American business wants to invest in China, that is their business just as it is my business to not purchase crap made in that country. I would rather buy a Peruvian-made garment (yes, they can be found here) of reasonable quality and pay a little more than to buy the cheap crap made in China. And yes, I do have a couple of Peruvian-made shirts in my closet.

2. In case you haven't noticed, in the past few years, the U.S. government has called China on a variety of things. And, in case you haven't noticed, Sino-American relations have hit a chilly skid because of principled U.S. opposition to several things going on in China AND because the U.S. has decided to sell more arms to Taiwan and President Obama has apparently decided to meet with the Dalai Lama.

In response to: On the other hand, all those times the US has invaded countries, sacked them and planted dictators for their comfort (if you don´t know, read some modern history before replying)... so all those things can be supported very rationally by you, right? Just to thank the US protection. Or is it unsupportable too? I doubt you would say that.

Which DID occur during the Cold War and which I am not supportive of. You also have to admit that the U.S. has also gotten rid of dictators, either directly or through diplomatic support of revolutionary movemenets -- especially since the 1980s. Let's not also forget that some of the supposed instances where the U.S. allegedly overthrew a democratic govenment (i.e. the Pinochet coup in Chile) have not only not been proven, but are disputed by serious historians on the subject. I find it amusing that people (not necessarily you) who oppose the U.S. for overthrowing brutal dictators like Saddam and the Taliban and lent significant diplomatic support to the overthrow of others like Marcos also criticize the U.S. for installing dictators (both real, like the Shah of Iran, and imagined, like Pinochet in Chile)

Taichungrunner: Would you care to specific what about the "hawkishness" you are against? This has nominally been a thread about U.S arms sales to Taiwan. These arms were REQUESTED by the democratically elected government of Taiwan. That you have done on such a rant on this thread leads to the obvious implication that you are somehow against the U.S. arms sales to this democratic country that I call home. This is not "U.S. hawkishness", this is the U.S. making available arms to a democratic country giving it at least some means of defending itself against a non-democratic potential regional hegemon on the other side of the Taiwan Strait that not only has a history of invading other states, but also keeping the territory it manages to occupy.

<quote>Do you think I care being rational or irrational.... especially your version of those concepts? you can continue living with your title of "rational human being" That is just a pathetic cliché which confirms what I said before: "Rational is what is convenient to an individual or group of individuals" </quote>

<quote>AS for the American terminology, I just mention that for your information. It is time, that you and others know that America is a continent and not a country. So change your erroneous terminology. It is healthy and libertarian, as much as you look in your cute pic </quote.

I am already quite aware of the terminology issue. I have had numerous friends from various Latin American countries (mainly from Church and time of the football pitch) and nearly all of them understand that many words in English, like "American" have multiple meanings.
You admit that we live in a barbaric world, yet you are critical of the one country that has done more to oppose barbarism in the world than any other.
Of course because you don't really care about human rights and democracy. You just want to see a country supported by the U.S. defeated so as to weaken the U.S. global position.

All I can say, Taichgrunner. Is our countries have a long history that goes back to the 1930s Japanese invasion of China and the 1st American Volunteer Group (Gen Chennault's Flying Tigers) that flew over Nationalist China cities.

We are not prefect, as you say. But we do make long term commitments to our allies and we do keep them. I know of three times the US Pacific 7th fleet has been deployed to deter Chinese aggression against Taiwan. It was there then, it will be there when it is needed in future.

Hopefully, that future day never comes. That these defensive weapons alone can deter China. No matter what our economy looks like, our allies need not fear. We still float those battle carrier fleets and nuclear submarines and they are manned by Americans dedicated to see peace in the world.

Much rather have the U.S. Seventh Fleet sitting between China and Taiwan (BTW, there are ZERO U.S. forces in Taiwan and the only time there HAS been in the past three decades is for recent typhoon relief after Super Typhoon Morakot last year) than to have Chinese Communist troops taking our hard won freedom away from us.
