Girlfriend I wouldn't go there. Childish behavior after four months. Red Flag If you are not able to be your self then where is the fun. I think you would want to feel good about him not confused or needing help. There are so many men out there. a dime a dozen. I think you could do better. Set your sights higher. If he loved you, he would give his blessing for you going to the dance, and probably say have a nice evening, but he does not trust you based on his own character.
If he REALLY loved you he would be going to the dance with you and not the Daytona !!

He's of on his own doing his thing at Daytona, you go to the dance. You have to assert your independance, he will either have to respect that fact or deal with it.If you don't he will think you are a pushover and walk right over you, he is being childish not taking your calls. Try one more call if no joy, then just wait 'til he contacts you. BUT DEFINEATLY GO TO THE DANCE. And make sure he knows.

i am sure this is upsetting-either he is creating a problem because he wants out-without seeming like he is in the wrong(possibly so he can pick up again with you at a later date)or he is a control freak who only wants you to do what he says you can.

i do see a distinction between a dance and a race.
if he really likes you, it might make it hard to enjoy the race thinking of you dancing with someone else.
