Ok so I've met this really great girl on a different free dating site and I think I'm actually going to like this one! I've been out of the dating scene for years and need some advice!
Ill be 24 in a few weeks, she is 25, and the last time I went on an actual date in the initial stages of a possible relationship I was under 21. We both agree that we should do something where having a conversation is possible so movies and really loud places are out. We both drink socially.. both like to play pool.. both like the outdoors but I want to do something public obviously since we haven't met yet so she can feel comfortable. Not sure if It would be appropriate to invite another couple I'm close friends with to come or if that's a bad Idea... I was thinking maybe some place like Dave and Busters where they have a restaurant and a bar and pool tables but it's not a real bar atmosphere? What is appropriate and what isn't for a first date? Since we met online it's different and I'm not sure what to do at all, help! =oP
Ideas on where to go, if I should pick her up or if I should meet her there so she can feel comfortable knowing she can leave if it doesn't go well.. any advice you can give me about it would help a lot! We are planning on doing it this Wed since we both have goofy schedules, so remembering the fact that I am completely hopeless at this after being in a relationship for 2 years and not dating for a year after that.. even the smallest detail would help!
i agree with casey lol but take her to a movie and then to dinner! if all goes well and she likes to dance take out out to dance and a drink so you both are comfortable and can talk to each other you know sometimes a drink breaks the ice just dont get--er drunk because then u have to be polite and hold her hair back and make sure she taken care of when she is sick lol anyhow think and take some advice on here and think it through before acting out u know alot of people use to give really good advise! and the first date is a first impression so make it last be romantic sweet her off her feet!
Yea forecast looks good for that day by the way, about 74 and just a few clouds. Not sure about the picnic thing though, sounds nice.. but I think we both may be a bit too ADD for it.

Haha yea true, I won't drink more than 2 beers if I have to drive anywhere though so that's not an issue. Neither one of us can sit through a movie in a theater without getting bored, that's why I was kinda unsure about the picnic. I have ADD like crazy and she does too. Hard to not get bored doing just one thing for very long unless its very entertaining.
Keep em coming everyone! This is helping me think!!
Its a first date so don't worry about making it a long process even if you just go out to a pool hall for a couple hours, so you can have fun playing pool but still be in a atmosphere where your able to have a conversation is good. Also if you look at it like this even if its a short date and both of you are still interested it gives a reason to go out on a second date. But you also have to make that first impression to make her feel interested on the first date, so just have fun with it!!!
Good ideas! I'm also thinking it might be a good idea to ask her what she wants to do, but I'd want to have a plan for the day/evening in case she leaves it up to me. It's really like a blind date, and I've never been on one before and like you all are saying.. first impressions are really important so I don't want to give her the wrong idea is all, and I've never dated anyone older than me before.

Go with the flow, who knows? let things happen. no restraints, just be you , you will find what you are looking for. Remember when looking for love you have to be serene. or not!. Depends who you are with and is the person you want, share good times with her. Smile its all good!, you choose it...

Yea I've been out of a relationship with my ex for a year now and am finally ready to move on, just a bit nervous about it is all it is I think..
I say Dave and Busters is a good idea. There is plenty of things to do there and there should defiantly be things there to do that you would both have in common. It is also a good place to relax and just be yourself and see how things go. Take separate cars that way if things don't go well there will not be the awkward silence on the way home.

thats ok, breath! your just dipping your toes in, be the wonderful person you can be, just be you! no expectations,
Dont do the movie on a 1st date thing, you cant talk and get to know each other.
Why not ask her if she prefers to be picked up or, meet at the chosen place. Pick a casual place with good food and background music. Nothing cheap, but not to fancy either, you dont want to feel uptight.
Over dinner bring up what to do next eg; hockey or a game of pool. Try to walk a little especially if its a nice night, its a good way to chat. Do bring flowers and do the small gentleman things, it may be corny, but romance is the way to a girls heart. Keep it light and fun...and if theres any chemistry at all?? magic will happen!
