Hello all, I am going to write a book on the rules of Internet dating and I am looking for some input. I am looking for humorous stories or horror stories. Do's and don'ts. What makes a good or bad profile. Acronyms and their meanings. Success stories or psychos I have met. Personal opinions of different sites and the people who frequent them. Scam stories or urban myth stories.
If you would like your profile name included please let me know.
Please feel free to post your personal experiences or email me at tagg72@gmail.com, if the embarrassment is too much for publication.

My rules are these.....

If someone comes across as a completely controlling difficult person via their emails.... they will also reflect those qualities in real life.. grin

9 out of 10 men who feel compelled to send uninvited pictures of their penises are married innocent The other man is a nutter.

Men who say they are separated are most likely still living with their wives. They are infact geographically separated. That means they only become separated when they walk out the door to meet a prospective date. laugh

Because only scammers give out their emails very early on so they can get yours to sell on.Look at rules about scammers never ever give your email out until you really get to know this person.
So there is your email address sitting there for everyone to see. Please read the warnings as you could be taken for everything its the same on every dating site.

You are so naive you are a sitting duck.doh frustrated frustrated confused dunno hug

PS You should write about the scams that have been pulled. In Aus alone the cost would be millions.Google scammers ....and see what comes up.

Think about it.

A person emails you. You automatically have their address.

dunno

Your publisher will no doubt point that out to you while editing the chapter on scammers.laugh

Martia, i don't deny that I am naive, but my internet address cost me nothing and if it gets overwhelmed with scams and spam, I will simply shut it down. You sound like you have some experience with scammers. I would be interested in your experiences.

Cheers

Naive, sitting duck.

First few meetings with anyone.............

Never meet anywhere but in a public place.

Never give them your home address or telephone number.

before you've sussed them out .....

I have a manfriend who knows when I go on 'net' dates, and to amuse himself, at sometime during my coffee I will receive a text asking if I need rescuing from an axemurder.. grin

I've heard it is essential to have a wing man. Some one that will scope out your date before you meet them and ring you during the date with a reason to escape. There is definitely a lot of subterfuge to dating.

NO I've never felt the need to do anything like have a 'wingman'.

But I do let my friend know where Im going, and when Im going. I do show them the profile of the person. Its just playing safe... honestly you dont know a n y person in the first few dates... regardless of where you've met them.

But thats just me .....

wave My experience with dating from these sites is that, as heaps of people say, the person you're meeting rarely matches up to their pic.

I've found in most cases that the pics are at least 5 years old; they've gained weight, lost hair etc etc

Fortunately, I haven't had experience with fakes, these people are who they say they are.

At the same time though, I think webcam is the best way around this. No trickery or false expectations - you can both see each other and feel more confident about the meet.

I'm not saying looks are everything, but I do think people should play fair dunno

I agree Serene, I try and keep my pics current. I had a guy I was gonna meet for a drink and he sent me mail saying he'd updated his pics...

OH Dear, he went from an attractive 50yo dark haired guy, to some balding old codger.... uh oh there is NO WAY that I would have recognised him.

I ditched the date... if he cant be honest about his pic, why bother with the rest of him.

Agree totally .. I was going to say, particularly in the 40 - 50 age group, 5 or more years makes a LOT of difference.

And I've found with the webcam thing that people are even better in the flesh than on cam dancing

serene56: Mm .. maybe a lot of people don't know what they really want

Do you mean relationship-wise tarnz

Or what they are looking for specifically (you know, like a middle-aged Aussie blonde chick with glasses )

If someone is a Player, put that they are a player then everyone that wants to play can - keep them all in their own circle so to speak.

If people never want to meet but want to play their stupid games, again, ,put them in their own little circle

dunno hard to try and explain, you have a big group of people all wanting different things and using dating site for different reasons - separate site into different areas dunno

Think I done too much accounting today dunno
