A base is also a foundation say for a or fconstruction or a numerical system such as 2 for binary ,10 for decimal, 8 for octal or 16 for hexidecimal.

Consequently, I feel like our current political leadership in this country is 'base'

I resent their desire to control us with their 'social engineering' and hollow political correctness.

Actually, that extends pretty much to Left Wing liberals in general who feel the need to control others.....

Liberals do not like people exercising their 2nd Amendment rights, so therefore, no one should be able to have a firearm.

Liberals want to see Gay marriages, therefore everyone should accept and celebrate gay marriages.

Liberals feel guilty about the wealth of America, and therefore everyone should feel guilty about the success of the US.

Liberals want everyone to be tolerant, and so they are intolerant of anyone who does not agree with them.

And it just goes on and on.

It really is a kind of baseness, but the irony is that they see themselves as 'progressive'.

What a joke.

There is also Values Bases which to me enfolds a set of rights which are crucially important for the maintenance of identity of all individuals in interpersonal situations e.g. Rights of Choices, Advocacy, Dignity, Privacy and Confidentiality....

Don't know if we are on the right trail of what your thread is trying to open for discussion... maybe you could expand some more please?

So stealing the second thingy would be morally corrupt and you would deserve to be thrown out?
Come on you clever folks.....What is morally/ethically "base" in your view?
Forget Webster's,Faulkner,Rand and especially myself.
Put something personal and loathsome up here for all to consider and enjoy.

I think it has to do with lack of self control/discipline.

Lying is base. Loutish/bullying behaviour is base too.

Cunning and devious behaviour is base as well, but I suppose most of those would come under the heading of morally low.

“Small things make base men proud.”

William Shakespeare

“Base souls have no faith in great individuals.”

Jean-Jacques Rousseau

An example of the basest behaviour in the news at the moment is that of a US woman who adopted a seven year old Russian boy, and just a few days ago sent him back to Russia alone, clutching a note advising she longer wanted him.

All the ranting and raving about the moral and ethical superiority of any one system over another is really quite baseless upon closer examination, as all stem from the same base; Religion then Social. Some would say that those are the basis of all, if not most of peoples psychological problems...
Might I suggest that we all do lunch sometime and touch base; if someone hasn't stolen by then...laugh
