Godsgift: Like I said in another thread, that crap is fine for teenagers but hardly a good start to a mature relationship. I would like my partner to be my best friend so if she's a game player, I'm not interested.

I agree with you 110%, but don't you think the whole - I don't like games thing is a cliche?dunno

NonniBlues: I just read that "men like the chase" when they want a woman. I find this to be not at all true as a rule. I also think we have lots of these "rubbish" cliché´s that can actually ruin things for a couple in the start.

I tried this once feeling like a stalker and quit it before I made things worse. I have a hard time remembering a more embarrasing time in my life and I´ve had quite a few.

What do you think. Should we follow the cliché´s or warn against ??

realtionship-love-dating Cliches are so many that it's hard to talk about it without uttering at least one:

I want a man who will respect me in the morning
women "play" hard-to-get
We don't have anything in common
No Drama
I'm laid back and/or easy going
not "into" games

there's a start

Englishman55: Too many people like to be judgemental.... they like to hang labels on you or spout cliches, because it makes them feel superior...... that's their own tiny little world.

What you could try doing is following your own heart.... doing what you feel is right and saying balloxs to the rest of the judgemental world....... works for me.

There are many unwritten and little understood rules for seeking a partner. They are confused even more when you cross country borders. Someone my age grew up in a much different dating world than younger people. Many relationships fail to get off the ground because the two are playing by different rulebooks. If we are lucky each of us finds someone who adapts and accepts the advance as something they can trust and want.

probably true - but then I think we can negotiate on the subtleties and it becomes a matter of identifying the nrgotiable items and those that are hard & fast for you

The last few guys I dated preferred to call, and that worked well for me - even tho the reasons varied - I really think most guys I know prefer to do the initial calling - age a non factor

Never really seen a cliche play out and prove its self to be true. Though I think that in any given situation you might find that they played out just as one would think they should. But that depends all on the people and situation. Sorry, not much help. dunno
