GingerBe: I have never been in love, but I have loved many people dearly. I know that what I felt was love, because I would sacrifice my happiness for theirs.

I made the ultimate sacrifice for one very special man many years ago. He followed me over half the world for a couple of years, and I never once even considered taking the heart he so freely offered, (even though my heart ached to be with him), because it would not have been the right thing to do.

He went on to do great things and I never regretted my decision.

I always thought that to be co-dependency...confused

JAN_is: I´ve only ever truly loved one man. I can´t explain in simple terms how I knew, just that I´ve never experienced the same feelings since, and doubt I ever will.

I was married and knew my wife for forty years. It took me a while to truly understand the level of my love for her, but I know it was as good as it gets. She taught me how to be a man and how to love a lady.

....how did you know it was the real thing?

We don't...

Real thing for us is what feels real at the moment.

Otherwise there would be no separations or divorces.

when you do fall in love you will know! its a special bond when you both want each other so much it hurts!

trouble is if it ends it hurts even more!

(find the nice hurt forget about the bad one)handshake

My first wife & I have been divorced nearly forty years. I love her, she loves me. My dad has been dead 15 years, I still love him. I love my kids and grand kids. There are men in my life I love. There are women in my life I love..

How do people "fall" in & out of love??confused

In my younger years, I jumped out of airplanes and did some free "falls", is that the same thing??dunno

My experience has shown me many people choose to use the term "I love you" in a very cheap manner and it means nothing..yawn

Yes, I have had several serious relationshps but I think that you don't know it's the real thing until you have the real thing and no matter what, when it's over, you question whether it was the real thing or not. I don't know if I will ever love someone again like I loved the last one but I have felt that way each time. I know with the last one I had never loved anyone that much before. To say it will never happen again is a pessamistic outlook. I tend to be an optimist. :)
