I don't get hunting for sport.

Why fight something that can't fight back?

Conrad73: ....and it tastes terrific!
Too bad hunting is so regulated here!
Unless you can afford a Lease, there is no chance! And the Leases are auctioned off to the highest Bidder, usually Hunting-Clubs.Besides that, you have to go through all kinds of Woodsman Tests in some States!

Here in NH, if a property isn't posted it's usually ok to hunt on it.
My family has a camp on six acres surrounded by several thousand acres in the northern part of the state. This is where we go during deer season and we hardly see anyone else plus we don't have to put up with out of staters such as those I mentioned in my previous post.
Massholes - Massachusetts
I had someone from Mass unload a muzzle loader into the tree I was sitting against one early evening. I was glad that pine was approx. 3 feet across at the base or the bullet would have gone thru

During my time in North Carolina, I found that you either had to own property, knew someone who did or knew someone who knew someone to hunt on private land. Needless to say, I did no hunting the past couple of years

bodleing: But you do get a great deal of pleasure out of it?

That's the bit that sits uneasy with me, but having never hunted and deliberately killed anything, who know's, I may enjoy it also, but somehow I doubt it.

Try going into the woods and track a deer. I guarantee you'll be hard pressed to see one. They are so smart, you could walk within feet of one and never know it was there. Their sense of smell and hearing are so keen, it's uncanny

We had an anti-hunting thread not long ago.
Before this one takes that direction I ask that you compare the quality of life of a wild animal versus a commercial beast.
The slaughter-house is a grim destiny.
Noone should criticise the hunter, then order a Big Mac.
