An Army investigator has recommended that four soldiers accused of murder in a raid in Iraq should face the death penalty, according to a report obtained Saturday by The Associated Press.

Lt. Col. James P. Daniel Jr. concluded that the slayings were premeditated and warranted the death sentence based on evidence he heard at an August hearing.

here's my problem with this this rule should be applied to those in all froms of government service. If its good enough for our young men in Iraq it should be good enough for the old generals and especially politicians.

Should government officials be same to the same high standards of conduct as our soldiers??

Of course they should the law should always be applied equally and should never dicsriminate based on who a person is or their position!!!!

Justice is supposed to be blind to all these things, but unfortunately there is something called politics that gets in the way!!!!!

Yup...No one is above the law including those in Government that make the laws. All goes back to the phrase "What's good for the goose is good for the gander!"

Government officials should have higher standards, after all, they are above in rank. This reminds of do as I say not as I do, sorry. One would logically expect the ones in power to show an example to those under them. Don't we learn from those above us?

lead by example. It saddens me to see and hear how the leaders and politicians make scapegoats out of those underfire.

Whats even more disconcerting is that many in the position to send more soldiers into combat have never experienced the stress or environment of the military in actual combat.

Have you ever seen old news reel of General MacArthur or Teddy Roosevelt? What I wondered about is why did Powell step out of the limelight. I thought he had some good things to say and was very supportive of the President. Somehow I think he just got disgusted or maybe I saw something that wasn't there.

Powell in my opinion was probably thought more of ther repercussions of conflict in the field and at home... this was not the agenda of the Bush regime..I agree he was probably the only one of the group that had actual combat and war experience... You know the rules, you disagree with the "Bushman" you disappear. Hopefully he will use his combat experiencand savvy of being and return to the political forefront.
