Here’s an interesting statistic I read not long ago -

WOMEN (not men) break off relationships or file for divorce 70% of the time.

If true, that means women are the ones initiating the end of a relationship much more often than men.

Do you think that is true?

Don't know any statistics, but in general I sometimes get the feeling that some men are more likely to tolerate and put up with a bad relationship. I think women seem to express their unhappiness more.

There are many men who I come across now who were married for a number of years and they seemed to have more of a roommate arrangement where both parties stayed for the kids etc. and security of the home, but didn't necessarily have a great marriage in many respects. I do wonder why they settle for less, perhaps its easier to do that then admit what you have isn't that great?

Perhaps the wrong words .. but I think in some cases no. Commitment is certainly there, but as for working through the problems I think that sometimes people just learn to let things slide and don't deal with the issues. How can two people be in a committed relationship and not be intimate for YEARS or do things together? Is that what a relationship is about settling for less? If one partner denies the other the enjoyment of that companionship and love, friendship etc. - how is that a great relationship?

The statistical information is fine and may very well be accurate, BUT, was there follow up info as to why this happens? Were there any reasons provided?

Only 17% of all statistics are accurate.

An amazing 46% are deliberately falsified.

Data collection errors account for 11% of inaccuracies.

The remaining 31% of error is accountable to mathematical miscalculations.
