Illuminate: You either believe or not I believe in science and God And I can tell this is hitting a lot of sore spots with people.
Wandering in a vast forest at night, I have only a faint light to guide me. A stranger appears and says to me: "My friend, you should blow out your candle in order to find your way more clearly." This stranger is a theologian. -- Denis Diderot, Addition aux Pensees philosophiques, from John Daintith, et al, eds. The Macmillan Dictionary of Quotations (2000) p. 34, quoted from R, Rotando, in a personal letter to Cliff Walker (December 17, 2001)
Conrad73: You confuse the Job of the Scientist with the one of the Speculative Philosopher.
Once again we agree on something Conrad.
String theory, Quantum Physics, Singularity, Big Bang, etc etc etc. They are all, as you say, speculative philosophy. They are not based on observation, but on dubious hypotheses that cannot be tested experimentally. Real handy for charlatans to use in leading people serious delusion.

Illuminate: Scientist talk a lot about the big bang as the origins of the universe, but what about the origins of the big bang? Science speaks of processes but not about reasons.
Science only changes the processes that we believe in. I don't think we are supposed to know the reason for the universe or our life, if we did we'd have nothing left to overcome.
Science doesn't defeat the concept of there being a god, but it does defeat the technicalities of many religious works.
Science is never a conclusion, i'm sure the scientific minds 100 years from now will look at today's scientists as being backward and wrong.

I'd go even further and say that the Big Bang Theory is a cult religion.
It offers a hypothetical explanation of creation that people are expected to accept by faith without any sort of supporting evidence.
Big Bang cult members condemn any who dare to question the doctrine, but they cannot offer one shed of evidence to "prove" that it has any basis in fact whatsoever.
It's real origins are in gnosticism and kabbalah. It is pseudo scientific mysticism, not science.

The universe is still expanding now, the logic of which suggests it must have expanded from somewhere, a central point of sorts?

Even with the highest intellect, with our illusions of grandeur, i don't think man can ever overcome himself and ultimately find an answer to everything he wants to know.

Some may say God made a mistake when he created the scientist...
Hmmm all very interesting....mankinds ultimate question, it always was and always will be. But faith and belief are free and have nothing to do with religion, which is nothing more than a social organization.

This could turn into a very long thread and I don't have time while the stock market is about to open, priorities you see. I'll just say that the expanding universe idea is false. Light speed is not constant, Einstein was wrong. Have a good day.

Always a lot of questions that need answering, theories are being proved and disproved yearly, science disproves religion over time.
Victorian Britain lost a lot of faith when Darwin published 'the origins of species' People question if a God could be so cruel as to ie create a parasitic wasp that lays its eggs into the living.

I agree with light speed not being completely constant, have a nice day.

When you get the time, I would be interested to hear more on your ideas please .....
No, Scientist says "science can explain it all" one of the PHDs who is now a pastor, wrote that as part of his testimony, that when he asked and there was no answer, he was told, science is not supposed to answer that.
