I would not say that I would call children baggage because "baggage" is negative, but I would call them situations I simply do not have the patience to deal with.

justtheguy4u: Ladies and gentleman just the same, being a single father, I would like to know your opinion about how you feel or what you think about dating someone that has a child or for that matter, children. Do you consider them to have "baggage"? Please fill me in.

Baggage is such a loose and easy term now and it is based on negativity.
It was a term to describe a person with very real and long term personal problems, not just right now difficulties.
For many people it is a perceived reason why others would not wish to date them or why they would not wish to date a person.
The more false reasons you put in front of you to be dated or date the more difficult you make dating.
My personal attitude to dating is to just enjoy it while it lasts.
Move on as soon as the you or the other no longer wish's to be involved.
Everyone has a history.

DodgeBabe: The OP has children. His children live with him.

Maybe, just maybe, he has been in a situation where he HIMSELF has wanted to date someone, but that someone very unkindly called the chidren "baggage" and not HIM.

Maybe, just maybe, he is looking here for affirmation of his own feelings, and some friendly advice.

Just maybe..

yes hun... just maybe... u have a point there Dodgebabe thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up

and just maybe davpak... my previous posts regarding the word "baggage" is my way of expressing my seriousness of the use of all words, as words are a lot more powerful than we give them credit and JMO of course wine

Children are not "baggage"...they are a blessing and any man that will not accept mine, well that's not someone I would even consider being with for one second.

I don't care about if a man has them either way, if I like him and he has kids, well eventually if it goes somewhere, I have to accept them as a part of him and love them too. It's a two way street and a personal choice as to how someone views kids.

I once dated a single father who had 6 children of his own
from a previous relationship and not once did I think that
he had "baggage" nor did he think I had "baggage" because
I had children of my own.
