Children are never baggage. However, it is up to YOU and not your new girlfriend to make sure they behave.

Children or not..if people would just die to the past..then there wouldn't be any baggage to carry.

But to die to the past..you have to face your past..and sometimes that includes some grieving,,and it's ok...to grieve..IT IS OK.iT WILL help you get rid of the baggage.

I had always believed that 'baggage' referred to the issues of ones past that hadnt been fully delt with.

Since being on dating sites, I've sadly become aware that some individuals do consider children to be 'baggage'. I honestly believe that it is horribly derogatory, and says alot about the person calling children such things.

I dont even entertain someone who has issues with my child, or the fact that I have responsibilities because I am a parent.

People using such a term in relation to children ... are the ones who have 'baggage'.

No they are not baggage. I consider them a blessing and would love them as mine. What I would consider "baggage" is a crazy ex that interfers....I won't deal with that aspect. Been there and done that.....

I generally try to avoid women with kids. If a woman does have kids, things go a bit smoother if they are 16 and older. I have kids myself btw---my son is 14 and my daughter is 9. Only one girlfriend had met them since me and the kids mother split up 5 years ago. I have my reasons that shouldn't concern anybody.

When I got married I maried a woman with three kids, I did not consider them baggage, I considered them part of the family. We even included them in the wedding cerimony. I am now a single father with two kids and hope someday some lady will accept my kids the same way I accepted my step kids.

If you are young, never had any children, never wanted any children…etc then yes, people would consider kids to be a baggage. wave

Gee doll...you sure enough picked the wrong word. Baggage should only be referred to negative emotional issues with the adult.
If you are having problems getting a women to date you because she does not want a ready made family. Well that is her choice. It is a huge responsibility to take on someone elses children. I certainly would not consider children, baggage.

I think the OP was misunderstood, actually.

I think HE was the one suffering from ladies calling HIS children baggage, but seemed to be jumped on as calling them that himself.

Poor guy!doh

I was just wondering after reading this, is this not hypocritical?? If you have children, why try to avoid women with them?? It reads like you have double standards.
Not trying to judge you, but just the way it reads to me and maybe others who read this??
I understand you having your own reasons which shouldn't concern anybody, so do not require a response. Just alerting you to how I read it. thumbs up

Regarding the OP's post I don't think anyone should be judged by having children or not. There are good and bad people, with and without kids, each should be judged on their own merit.

Nor do I ...but the fact remains that it does happen ...and it seems to happen as much if not more to men that have childern....Seems to me anyway, that single fathers have a much harder time finding someone than a single mother..

Of course that could be that more women have the childern than men....handshake
