I get enough light at work for a farmer's tan, so I try to compensate by doing my exercise outside, later in the evening, with as few clothes as possible.
This way, I get some sun, but avoid the most harmful stuff.
Swissblueeyes: Do any other posters like to suntan at the beach? I live on a lake so Im usually out there a lot swimming, boating and getting a "real" tan..I never use tanning salons..Does anyone else suntan while going to the beach? or do you avoid it? I know silly thread but I was curious if other members like to suntan.
Love the sun, but get bored just laying in it.
I tend to mess around in the yard, or go walking by the river and stuff..you knows..

i don't specifically go to the beach to work on my tan but yeah i love the nice glow on my skin at the end of the day. Living in a mediterranean island with sunny weather 9 months outta 12, you'll get a tan here just walking down the street!

I live in a Sunburnt country, over the years there have been huge campaigns to convince people that getting a tan is risky, its your skin trying to protect it self, We cover up when we go out ," only mad dogs and englishmen go out in the midday sun".We go to the beach early in the morning and are in shade in the burning hours betweenn 1100 till 3 pm. I would never in a Month of sundays ever use a Tanning salon the risk of Melanoma is way to high. By the way have any of you heard of the hole in the ozone layer letting all those dangerous radiations that put you even at higher risks of Skin cancers

I get lots of sun riding around on the bike (motorcycle) and put a bit of sunblock on if I remember. On the 27th of July I rode 4 hours into the afternoon sun and sure looked like a freakin' lobster but I have a medicated salve that used to be called "Man and Beast" that turned it into a tan in three days. Good thing I had that as I was about to go on a week's ride and would get lots of sun. Usually by the end of summer I have a dark tan on my face, neck and arms but the rest of me looks like a chicken (English ruddy skin...ewwww). I would never use a tanning salon...so unhealthy.
