the two greatest original founders of Sharia law were Malik ibn Anas and Ibn al-Shaf'i( two of the most famous and accomplishing companions of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Anas established the Maliki school of jurisprudence. Al-Shaf'i was one of Anas' students; he disagreed with his teacher about the reliability of the hadith. He felt that it was necessary to trace each hadith from the time of Muhammad through its chain of devout Muslims. This concern led to Islamic scholars considering "... which hadith were true and which were not." Needless to say this led to conflicts among scholars as to the proper application of Sharia law.
A very important point needs to be remembered in this regard, and that is, ibn al shafi promoted the use of "additional" sources of sharia law. these additional sources of sharia law could be summed up as the technique of "... reasoning by analogy in order to develop new laws from existing laws." As the culture evolves, new types of problems emerge that need to be dealt with..these are the techniques of accepting the consensus of a Muslim community. The reasoning is that Allah would not allow an entire community to be in error on a basic Islamic principle.
I take it that, peace be upon him is a standard thing when mentioning his name ?
Yes, it is a customary and standard procedure for all muslims to say "peace be upon him" while mentioning the name of the greatest human in the history called prophet Muhammad (pbuh). By the way, we muslim ask for mercy from the Lord whenever we mention the name of any prophet, be it moses, abraham or jesus..any prophet that is.
Another point need to be mentioned here with regard to baptism and catholicism all over again..lol...the truth of the matter is that we muslims would be the happiest lot if baptist and catholics also think the same way by accepting islam then. But, just like me, you also know that the reality is those baptist and catholics are trying to annihilate islam and muslim for thousands of years by propagating against islam and muslim. so you may want to retreat from that statment (ie. baptist and catholics are all over again)...
in other words, what i meant to say, there must be some very serious and fundamental differences between the ways of catholics/baptists and that of islam. Otherwise, catholics and baptists would be very happily accept and endorse the creeds of islam
what I meant by the Baptist, Catholic thing is that they do NOT agree, that's all. for that matter my sister is Pentecostal. and SHE doesn't AGREE with any of them either !
But thank you so much for broadening my understanding of Islam.

My Personal opinion, is that each faith, wants to be in charge, for whatever there individual motives are. GREED, Power, ETC... But thankfully we are all entitled to our own opinions.
I could get on a soap box of whats wrong with this or wrong with that, but Nothing is perfect in this world.
Its a shame, I wonder how much MONEY, Time, & LIVES have been LOST to this whole subject..........

Now this I don't understand, I was always under the impression that if you weren't Islamic then you were nothing, so I take it I am wrong there, and that Islam recognizes, these people, but the other religions don't do the same ? I am on shaky ground here, for this is really outta my league. I am a retired Soldier, I do NOT try " Normally" to even understand religions much less talk about them for so long.
I know some things about the crusades, not much but a little. My Take on that was that the ( OH BOY ) Catholic Church, wanted to be the Head KNOCKER and didn't want Islam in the way., Personally, I think this planet is big enough for us ALL to be able to get along. BUT then,....... what do I know !

Just like you mentioned there sir, there are plenty of misunderstandings with regard to islam. Islam doesn't only recognizes the people of other religions, it also orders muslim to respect and ask for mercy from Allah almighty for all the prophets. in fact, islam goes as far as saying that if we muslim don't recognize and respect other prophets, we won't be accepted as muslims in the eyes of Allah almighty.
Islam is universal by its nature. And that's exactly why you will see that almost 4/5 millions of pilgrims from all over the world go for pilgrimage to Mecca, and they finish the ritual without any supervision of any force or government! Can you imagine in this world that a crowd of 4/5 millions of people doing their "things" in such an orderly fashion without any control of any power or government?!

I don't care to have freedom removed from ANYONE. nor am I in the least bit interested in, telling or being told what form of religion I should practice.
However it seems to me that MORE & MORE American Women are turning to ISLAM,....... and I just was trying to UNDERSTAND,....... W H Y ! ..................................

Hello again, curious. I hope that i have managed to give you some kind of idea about what islam really is in its entirety. To understand islam, one must be intelligent and smart. In fact, it is impossible for a muslim to remain stupid and ignorant because the very first revelation that came to prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through angel gabriel was "iqra" meaning "read". the Lord orders muslims to read and learn so that they can enlighten the whole world. unfortunately, most muslims today have never read the holy quran nor they ever tried to understand what really holy quran stands for. Very sad but true
curiousgeorge2: I don't Pretend to be an expert, so I thought it time to Learn something !
1st let me say that I am amazed that there are WOMEN,......
THAT LIVE in the USA that are willing to subjugate themselves, to this situation to BEGIN with. these things called the
HIYAB, BURKA, NIQAB, SHAYLA, CHADOR,..... are incredible for me to even begin to try understand. Not to even MENTION,.... what comes NEXT !
( I hope I spelled them right ) .....
NOT, that I don't think that SOME Women in this COUNTRY, could benefit,.... from being Made to ride in the trunk of a Taxi CAB ! Sorry,.....
Anyway, Back to my Point, I have to wonder just how Far AMERICAN Women are going to Stand for being PUSHED around like this !
OK,.......... Fire AWAY I have my Body ARMOR on now.

If your answer is "no", then my question is why not?
