jaguardancer: It's like the lady above said. If you and this includes me are brought up where there is not a single outside influence to counter the information given you that will be your beliefs right or wrong. One good thing about the information age is that you can get outside opinions right or wrong also. Things are changing faster now thanks to the Computer and internet. Have faith the old ways will die off.
Yes, we have a wonderful opportunity here on these forums to talk to people from all over the world, to see them as individuals.
Its a shame that more people don't take advantage of this.
Its interesting and its fun, but like you, I hope that in time, the old ways will die off.
In response to: This is something which has been ocupying my mind lately. It seems to me no matter where, people still get judged by where they come from, what or who they believe or not believe in.. why does it seem like we can't jump over our own shadow and leave all that behind and see a person for what he/she is..an individual.
nah..if everybody is such goody goody, then the whole world will be a very boring place. Besides, devil needs a job too to mess up the things in this world.

StressFree: It's a process that is still going on. We are in a better place than the 50's and 60's. The greatest illusion that exists in our world today, is that we are all different.
yes you are right with that..maybe one day the world will wake up and realize that we are all the same..Human beings..and neither of us is better than the other

Opposites are necessary in our lives but the secret is this opposites or made to compliment each other. When have you seen a magnet opposite push away from itself. Never. We all have internally an intuitive sense that tells us something is wrong. It is when this sense even as a child is consatntly ignored or beaten out of you that we get the Ignorance in Society.

To be totally honest, people of each country do conform, albeit partially, to the stereotypes whether that be physically due to their gene pool (for example), or mentally due to their upbringing and environment.
Some people have of course totally broken the mold... but that in itself is a behaviour influenced by your own way of thinking or culture.
The most interesting journey is to analyse yourself and some of your beliefs and behavior, and where they originate from...and indeed to challenge those beliefs.

Yes it appears to be a human failing. I think a lot of our judging comes from a place of insecurity or fear. That person is different - they are unknown therefore we don't know what they might do therefore they make us feel out of our comfort zone therefore we judge or criticise them. As Jac said, it requires thinking out of the box!!! Celebrating our differences is definitely the way to go... How about a new thought: They are different therefore I might learn something from them and grow in wisdom from the experience...

We are waking up, from my observations. Like I said, we've come long ways since the 60's. It's indeed a painful process. We'll get there someday.

Yes, I understand what you are saying. The tails and the heads is still one coin. Without either, there is no coin. Ah, I was expanding there briefly on duality/polarity---something necessary in this physical plane of experience.
I don't know if I understand your last sentence clearly? Can you rephrase that, and expand that so I can understand where you are coming from?

mnowsa: please elaborate on that, dear..i guess i didn't quite understand what u meant there
You said that the devil makes us look good. If your behaviour is only marginally better than diabolical, then you look good by comparison.
If one aspires to, for random but popular example, Mother Theresa, you might not look so good in comparison, but your behaviour is going to be better.
So, its up to each of us to choose our own baseline, the point from which we measure ourselves, the comparisons we wish to make and the aspirations that we have in the way we wish to conduct ourselves.

I also think that people because of how they are percived by others then act they way they are percived..now did I say here what I wanted to say ???

Hi. I haven't read the thread yet. People will always be judged by their background and what they believe in. I think it is simply because it is part of who we are as individuals. We cannot run away from our heritage and culture or social influences, or even thousands of years of human history that brought us to this point where we are now, because those factors influence our way of thinking. Sad as it is, everybody is labeled. We can't jump over our own shadow. The only upside i see, is that we, as a race(human) can instigate change although it will yet take eons of time and sacrifice and struggles and conflicts to finally drop our arms and unify every nation and drop the divisions we have now. We got a long way to go.
