There is a remake of the original movie which starred John Wayne. In the new movie, Jeff Bridges plays the part of Marshal Reuben J. Cogburn. While I think Jeff Bridges is good, no one can replace John Wayne

Why a Remake? Do they really believe they can improve on the Original! Next thing you know some dumba** is producing a Remake of CASABLANCA!
hollyberries: I agree with you , but some movies like "Father of the Bride" it was seen in a more comical way. My son while in college had to pick a movie that was remade. He had to write a paper on it. It did make him dig out the first one to compare the two, but he still liked the second one. It's a good conversation topic.I love so many movies but my favorites are The Green Mile, Cold Mountain and Gangs of New York. A great new Christmas one is 5 Christmases. It is really funny for an adult comedy.Similar to home alone ,but for adults. Holly
We liked the Millennium series "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo", "The Girl Who Played With Fire" and "The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest". Hollywood is going to remake them and admit they are not going to follow the original story.
Why even bother then?
If people can read subtitles on a foreign movie or deal with watching a movie that was made more than ten years ago there are plenty of Adam Sandler movies out there to keep them happy already.
Conrad73: Now I hate myself the rest of my days for giving someone a dumb Idea like that!
Don't fret it conrad, less than 100 people read this forum and none of them are from Hollywood. Bollywood maybe, hey now, there's an idea, a Bollywood remake of Casablanca.
Speaking of crappy remakes, the brain trusts in Hollywood had the gall to remake the "7 samurai" and called it "The Magnificent Seven". I liked it until I saw the 7 Samurai. I never want to see The Magnificent Seven again.

If you've noticed, they seem to be running out of ideas in Hollywood...Rarely does something original come out and be good..For some reason however, they don't realize everytime they make a remake, it's not as good as the original either.
sophiasummer: Or Breakfast at Tiffany's, please god tell me NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

They already remade Sabrina. It's too bad that many people in my generation will not even look at the original versions. There were some very cool movies they will never see.

Oh yes I totally agree, I have been involved behind the camera within NZ films, and for new young up and coming film makers here, we, like my ex partner and many more will lend their skills to help them along their way, either for no pay or a small amount for the gear and time...many a great kiwiw film has been made like this, if it wasn't for the generosity of the many talented people behind the scenes here, I have been a part of that..
