I grew up believing but lost 'faith' at a very early stage in my life. I respect others beliefs, it works for them. My daqighter became a Catholic (Protestant, C of E, Agnostic, Athiestic background) and this really astounded me. But I supported her in her belief.
My first wife dealt with this by saying "I am a Satanist." They couldn't find a comeback to this one.
My answer has always been that "I am happy with my beliefs and not ready to change at this time," and they are usually able to accept this. I think the magic words are "at this time." As long as they believe you have some sort of faith (albiet, not their's), they believe that some time in the future, you may accept the "one true path."
Personally, I am not sure what that is.

The fish is probably used as a symbol by early followers of Jesus as they could hardly use a cross ... he hadn't been crucified yet. Also ... would you use the symbol of your Rabbi's method of execution? The cross came much later as did most of the New Testiment books of the Bible. About 300 years later, after the Conference of Nicocea that Emporer Constantine convened to get the many bickering Christian factions to agree to a basic theology for Christianity.
The great JC and the sign off the fish is just a lie as this is the AGE of Pisces? The fish was probably used as the Apostle Simon Peter was a fisherman. He was also one of the most prolific preachers after the crucifixion. As the cross was not yet a smbol of Christianity and Christianity was illegal in the Roman occupied and Jewish populated land, a logical symbol would be a styilised fish.
In the bible when Noah Moses came down from the mountain he tolled told the people to destroy those pagan idols off of the BULL = Taurus The Bull was probably the ancient Caninite God Molok (nearest English translation). The Babylonian Zodiac was not in use by the Caninite people. and take up the rams horn as in Aries ,Rams horns were used as war trumpets by those Bronze Age armies
