World News: North Korea warns drills could lead to nuclear war
Published Date: 13 December 2010 North Korea warned today that US-South Korean co-operation could bring nuclear war to the region. The warning came as the South began artillery drills amid lingering tension nearly three weeks after the North's deadly shelling of a South Korean island.
The South's naval live-fire drills are due to run until Friday at 27 sites.
The regularly scheduled exercises are getting special attention following a North Korean artillery attack on front-line Yeonpyeong Island which killed two South Korean marines and two civilians.
A South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff officer tried to play down the significance of this week's drills, saying they were part of routine military exercises and would not occur near the disputed western Korean sea border.
North Korea, however, lashed out at Seoul, accusing South Korea of collaborating with the US and Japan to step up pressure on Pyongyang.
That co-operation "is nothing but treachery escalating the tension between the North and the South and bringing the dark clouds of a nuclear war to hang over the Korean peninsula", Pyongyang's main Rodong Sinmun newspaper said.

Yes the human race can not do with out at least on war going on at any one time. Its the way we all focus and release our negative energy. Acts like waves of energy through out the world. Pity we are not better at managing it. Iraq yesterday, korea today, maybe your country is next if we don't evolve in time

Assange and wikileaks is doing a great job at stopping those wars. They have more troops in Afghanistan now....than when Assange started his releases. And prior to Assange and Wikileak....the North Koreans were actually at the table talking about nuclear disarmaents.
But then Wikileaks and the world needs to know what the 'issues' are. Assange obliges....and North Korean is shelling the south and sinking the Chonean. Afghanistan is heating like a fried egg on a tin plate on a hot day in the out back.
Just maybe the world knowing all the inner details of negotiations....is causing rogue nations like North Korea.....security fears? That if they negotiate with the US and Skorea....the next day every word negotiated is on the net by wikileaking?

nth korea has been antagonistic for years tom, way before wikileaks
cherryrae: nth korea has been antagonistic for years tom, way before wikileaks
So it just just this year to sink the Chonean? To start shelling the DMZ and South Korean islands? It had not done any of that prior to wikileak coming online.
A occassionaly across the DMZ shooting.....and mini sub operaiton that got fouled on the rock of South Korea.
But wikileaks is sharing the stories of US State Department cables....some of which are in referrence to North Korea.....maybe regarding Bill Clinton showing up for pics with Kim to get the two Al Gore Reporters out of prison. And North Korean is shooting at just about anything that comes near.

It couldn't possibly be anything to do with the S.Korean/US joint military excercises...
I believe the reasoning behind this aggressive behaviour is to actually bargain with the US, by threatening outright war, NK knows that the US will intervene, and in doing so will suggest that they (THE US) will give more food and support, if they (NC) stand down from any real attack. NC is almost bankrupt, has had a second year of terrible crops and manufacturing and they need food desperately, every time they wave their swords the US has lowered sanctions and given millions of dollars of aid. According to the Chinese press, South Korea is readying itself for unification, this is now supported by the US, Japan, Russia, only China seems reluctant to give total support to unification. The reason? Because if Korea becomes one, then China will be flooded with refugees from NK who refuse to live under a unified Korea. The last thing China needs at this time is thousands or even millions of Koreans descending on their country taking away jobs and livelihoods from their indigenous people. In my view, if a country has nuclear weapons, they are reluctant to use them due to the outcome, meaning they will loose all they have, in NK's case, they have nothing to loose and could just use them with no regard to the outcome. This is genuinely a very worrying situation, and one with no clear solution at this time.
