So we have had a few floods and a bit of a fire lately, but one thing bigger happened ?

A nation stood up together as one to be counted when needed!

I don’t think those affected by these disasters could truly understand how their life’s and troubles would mean a lot too others who cared,

This nation is not sinking? This nation is showing other nations on just how people should live together,

The damage wont be fixed overnight, but it will be fixed! Maybe it is time after all to remove the borders?

Australia your standing in it! No borders! Just Aussies

australia applause cheers

I think the majority of people affected are running on adrenaline , the reality of whats happened will be hitting them now ,We as a nation certainly have alot to be proud of , I think in times like this our borders just naturally melt its the aussie way

How about we start by abandoning the idea of a $40bn (billion) Super Fast Broadband Network and plough some of that money into fixing up Qld (and other states) devastated by these floods??

What good is super fast internet to these people now - none whatsoever, they don;t have power and won't for weeks maybe months. devil devil devil

Of course we need borders!!!!

Otherwise what happens at State of Origin time?? uh oh Can you imagine NO state of Origin?? thats just HORRENDOUS!!!! wink

and where would we send all the cane toads if everywhere was called Queensland?? conversing

Now Im not very politically minded, and do my best to avoid politics, but isnt the purpose of all the overpaid big wigs in Canberra to run the whole country?? to be the no border level of government?? then we have the state government, and then the local councils, each with their own little jobs and things to do??

I honestly believe that in times of need, within Australia the borders do come down, we all work together as a nation.

What I have learn't over the last few days is, just how possibly nasty things could turn in regards to supplies......that was the scary part for me.

No bread No milk.................you should see that aussie spirit then..I was actually disgusted by the attitudes on some people when they were told to put the 6-8 litres of milk they were trying to get back on the shelf as it is a 2litre limit.....look after the fellow aussie......this is a case of looking after oneself. And selfish in my opinion.

We have always come together in disaster and stood together as Aussies, but I couldn't help asking myself the question, how long does that spirit last when we run out of basic supplies. One man threw his milk back in the fridge was not pleasant at all to the lady serving him....makes me sick.

I talk to friends in USA often and they really have no idea about Australia, how big we are and what makes us such a great nation. They had hurricane Katrina, we have almost half the bloody country under water. These floods have really put us in the spotlight world wide but what a sad way to show the world how fantastic we Ozzies are. australia

On that note, sadly I think all the good that Oprah Winfreys visit might have done for Australian tourism has been wiped out in the last couple of weeks. Damn.

But then again, I hear that Austria is being invaded by lots of Americans looking for those cute koalas and kangaroos. laugh rolling on the floor laughing laugh

Yes they are disgusting! My sister lives in Qld too. She told me on the phone yesterday how when she went to her local supermarket, she was lucky to get a loaf of bread but missed out on milk and toilet paper. She saw someone buying 6L of milk.
Some times people think they are more important than any one else. Yes it really is a ugly side of Aussies.

yeah its really bad.. I think tho when people are panicking and scared they do stupid things when they dont know whats happening ....

it hit home yesterday when I was talking to Red... we who are not involved in this know much much more than they do.. they havent had power so no TV or radio to keep them informed of whats happening or exactly how wide spread it really is etc .. and things they do hear are either passed on by someone else so it may not be totally accurate or even (chinese whispers) or they manage to hear small snippets every now and then when they go in the car and hear radio stories, so they are not getting the whole story etc

Well keep her updated!
Apparently, there are a lot of people who now also have no power with lots of milk and bread going off! I hoped they got the toilet paper too! As they will be getting sick soon with all that bad milk? And they are really going to need all that toilet paper?
