estate: Hi Jan, hope you are well Honestly, don't let it worry you. This is a free site after-all, it's not like we are all being conned out of our money, by these fakers.
It´s not that it worries me, I´m not around 24/7, but I really do find it unjust and it clearly hurts a lot of people. I also think that those who have been affected in the forums by such idiots, male and female I hasten to add, have to deal with the "no smoke without fire" thoughts and comments by newer members who have no or little knowledge of the membership.

I generally know the few who do always recognise them, but I don´t normally write about it to them in private to confirm our mutual suspicions. Sometimes I have with people I feel I can trust though.
I notice the style in which people write, and the vocabulary they use (along with the grammatical errors sometimes!) perhaps my job as an English teacher helps me more than others here, and the fact that I´ve been a member for longer than most, but I also often notice the use of specific emoticons, it´s a dead giveaway, and this has nothing at all to do with my job.
Having been around on and off for over 5 years of course there have been instances of this throughout that time, but lately, probably in the past year or so, there has been much more of this going on here, and it really wears my usually limitless patience.
It just isn´t fun anymore quite honestly when you feel you can´t trust anyone or aren´t sure if you are actually responding to a real person.
Anyone else feel the same way?
Hay miss marple stop being pedantic and get a life

Hi Jan
I'm a newbie on this site and I can assure you I have only one profile here. I have been online dating and personals sites for almost ten years. At first just looking for friends/chatting but now I'm looking for something more serious and also to find some good friends. Hope to find a few here. I see more scammers today, not many when I was online ten years ago.

Hi Jan, Yes, the style and language used, give such persons away every time. When I've mentioned it to certain people, suddenly that 'new' profile would mysteriously disappear.

I don't worry about it or care. Spend my energy elsewhere rather than ferreting out in an online venue like this who is who or isn't. Just don't care.
I know all to well to where you speak.I belong to acouple of non singles sites where a particular man has had more then one profile on this site and has been banned acouple times, comes back under different screen names and gets banned again. Here's the kicker he ends up being appointed mod on this site.Go figure.
