jodestir: ... not happy with your life? Single? Married? Thinking of throwing in the towel and searching for greener pastures and a whole new/different/BETTER lifestyle?? What are the pros and cons of both? What's good about single? What's good about married? Is the grass really greener on the other side or are there weeds in both? ... Opinions appreciated ...
I think it really has a lot to do with the shade of green you use!
Just like any relationship...you can make any/either side as green you want...it just takes effort.
Being single means that I can live my life by my own rules. No one else to clean up after or get bent if you don't cook what they like. Although the grass may look greener on the other side, one must remember that there is also poison ivy over there.

I'm happy with my life because I'm happy with who I am, but it's taken me a while to get to this space! We live and learn.
My mother told me not long before she died: "Learn from me. Don't ever rely on someone else to make you happy. Only YOU can make yourself happy!" She was married three times and that didn't include my father...
So the problem is that the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side ...
There you are, in your life looking over the fence, and you see that the grass is greener . So you make a life change and get yourself over there... only to find yourself looking over the fence and guess what - yup, the grass is greener on the other side (where you just came from... )

If you can't fine happiness in your own backyard, you will never find it. (from the Wizard of OZ).
