If I had to judge a country solely based on the tv and such that I watch in here in Australia, I definitely get the impression that America is dangerous. Also that they seem to have a terrible health care system and would hate to get sick in that country.

You're right. It's so bad that we have disposal bins on every block for people who get sick and die from the lack of national healthcare. Fortunately we have a good garbage disposal system. The bodies are picked up once a week.
venusenvy: O but Freddy, If you want to relocate to Canada why you have to be prepared to live in an igloo, drive sled dogs to work, salute the Queen, and be freaked out at the sight of grass. Mind you, it has the best skiing in the world in July
I'm thinking it would be environmentally friendly to live in an igloo. I do question how difficult it would be to get a shower in an igloo though? Also, is it difficult to mount a flat panel tv on an igloo wall?
Merriweather: Well thank you for that... I have heard from friends who have been and travelled thru -out that it is a very nice and interesting place... the only complaint that we hear about USA is that its food portions are far too much and the size of the coke drinks are huge.. I guess tho... no one forces it down your throat... therefore its not really a problem... but seriously, its WOW you should see how much they eat... type of conversation... lol
Look at it this way. If you order a biggie fries and a biggie coke, you can throw the leftovers out to the homeless on your way home. It all comes together. A part of the "American Plan"...
Every time I've been to the US I've had a great time. Met some good people, great ladies and seen some wonderful sights. The hospitality was amazing and I definately plan a return some day.
Rumyet: yeah i know usa is big country with52 states.actually i was meaning big cities like LA.NW ,san fransisco ets
If you get a book on a particular city(or check online), it will tell you the dangerous part of a city to avoid. It's usually a very small area, but even in places like Okla. City, there's a gang area, where even news media get shot at. I've found this to be true for cities around the world, not just in America. I personally think I would feel safer in America than anywhere else, but maybe b/c it's the only place I've ever lived except for 2 yrs. in W.Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Yes, we absolutely love a British/Welsh accent (and most people here are hospitable to anyone who's a visitor from a foreign country if they're friendly as well).

I know... wrong impressions abound. It's not like that at all.
kittykawaii: I'm not saying thats what I personally believe. I'm sayin thats the impression that American tv shows give. And i'm talking documentaries and such. Not movies and other fictional tv shows.
What you will find on documentaries is that in order for them to be interesting, they have to exploit a weakness, otherwise there wouldn't be any interest.
We do have some "idiot" tv shows that don't show America in a good light...as far as that's concerned. Example: the old Jerry Springer Show. It was jam packed with the "worse of the worse".
pls take it from me. the USA is a great country with many many great people. More often than not, the people of this country, embrace people no matter where you from

well..i have lived in this great country for more than 12 years. I have had my fair share of good experiences as well as bad experiences, but, overall, my good experiences outweighs the bad experiences by a huge proportion. People in this country have liked me...some women even wanted to marry me and then of course, some people didn't like me for who i was, but i just told them to screw themselves because of not liking me and they happily obliged

Antjo39: The US is a wonderful and safe place to live if you have lots of money. That is all I can say. You rather get rich in your country and then move to the US.
I don't have lots of money... and used to have even less. (Most illegal immigrants come here to get money, not bring it. Of course, if you're extremely poor, you may end up in a dangerous neighborhood. But saying you have to have LOTS of money to be safe... have you ever been here btw?)
