Paldi5: What makes you think WE need to land? The troups on the ground are already there in the opposition forces... entire brigades have defected, along with their weapons. We are just paving the way for them.

My plan is easy. Why complicate it? Gaddafi and his loyalists needs a little nudge that's all. It should have been done last week.

So you think you can fly from the Med or Spain and fight without refuelling or rearming and take out All the systems.

OK Air to Air refuelling but no rearming no quick turn round and that just trebles the Airframes you need...

And just who are going to do all the guarding defending and supply work on these airframes....

You really do not have a clue.

Many Many folk are dying and you want more to die with your plan.

The plans are all in place but the troops and supplies and Airframes are not as yet. More importantly neither is the UN MANDATE and that is needed.

Then we need to Garrison the place for a while until it settles and the Libyans can take over completely.

Many more Troops...And that we have not got yet...

I know of only 500 UK troops who are on standby at the moment...And they are INFANTRY....

grin cheers

patmac: By the way Paldi just what is your expertise in this question????

I played rugby for the oposing team in the Guerra de las Malvinas. Why pray tell do I need to be an "expert" to have an opinion? Anyone interested in the "question" can easily bone up it, and I've been at it for years.

So... our frightened carrier and a troup ship has done a U-turn and is headed trough the Suez. Check

The news is full of discussions about a no-fly. Check

The use of air power by Gadaffi has been very spotty and limited to date. Check

Many of the former Gadaffi loyalists have changed sides and it is rumered more are on the fence in Sirte for exaample. Check

Most of the potential hostages (foreigners in the Tripoli airport) have left the country and more get out every day. Check

So it's time for the (Paldi) Plan.

Just my opinion, of course. No one else here is suggesting anything but wait and see.

tomcat1968: and we will get no feffing thanks either i think we never do

Nope and this is the latest...

Scottish troops are still on standby to assist with humanitarian and evacuation operations in Libya, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

The Black Watch, 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, is on a routine deployment notice of 24-hours.

About 200 troops from the battalion were moved to an air base in South Cerney, Wiltshire, last week.

Heavy fighting has been taking place around Zawiya, just 30 miles west of the Libyan capital Tripoli.

But the MoD stressed any deployment of troops would be to assist with humanitarian aid, food supplies or emergency evacuations.

The 3rd Battalion, the Black Watch, are based in Inverness.

Now the 200 are the Advance party some 300 to follow.

Wrong you move without a mandate and a plan many thousands die and the USA for years gets castigated for invading a Sovereign Territory.

Ever thought Gadafi does not need his airpower at present and is waiting.???

Then you fly in to what???

Try thinking.

The suggestion I am making is for a joint forces - UN mandated operation to bring Gadaffi in for trial for his crimes against humanity. That';s a strong and ballsy position for the UN to take and certainly could have major reprecussions for other hotspots in the world. Perhaps that's why some people here are fighting the concept.

patmac: No UN MANDATE.....And regardless of what we say it is really a Libyan affair until the UN get their act together.

So you would do that and then If Gadafi wins (unlikely) what then???

It is at the moment very nearly a civil war like Angola, Congo and numerous others. I did not see the same fuss then.

Oil again say the folk who will take all the reasons later and develop them into another reason to castigate the west.

So no Mandate no invasion.

Agreed, no mandate no invasion.

If Gadaffi wins over the UN force? Gosh, I guess the UN gets a bigger force and goes back in?

The farther from Europe, the less interest. Sad to say.

Oil, sure. It's what the civilized world economies run on at present.

Peace.

The Russians and Chinease OK'd the sanctions and the call to trial for crimes against humanity.

Arab League is fine with me... they need the exercise, but most of them are worried about unrest at home for some reason. laugh

Paldi5: So, again we agree. Gee, That was Easy!

Just answering questions put to me dude, as you know I always answer all questions put to me, no matter how frivolous (except IDing self righteous trolls.) If you grow tired, there are other threads to ponder.

I'm getting bored here. When I win an arguement, I move on. No big thrill watching you cry.

See ya.

Shows why you are here, and you won nothing as there is nothing to win. Just the fact you knew nothing about how to go about taking control of a hostile country without a mandate from the UN and the support needed during and afterwards.

Love the snide comments on Las Malvinas as well.

And you do know you do not always answer all questions.

Sad though trying to score "points" on a thread which is discussing folk losing their lives.

Just shows where your sad priorities lie.
