Christmas1: Sorry, never the read your question just the title. So would I be with someone poor but who loved me though never bought me gifts?.....NO! Doesn't have to be the most expensive gift..in fact I don't wear jewelry. There are a lot of ways to procure trips, gifts etc without spending money. It is called barting. I can't see why someone can't borrow money, if they have a decent full time job..then bank would lend money. I am not talking about a trip every year. All work and no play makes Johnny a very boring husband. (time for a divorce)hahahahahahaha
And would you take out a bank loan and then work overtime to pay it off to appease the materialistic needs of your partner ? ... just curious ....

missha72: Money doesn't or shouldnt play a role in finding love .. but saying this no one wants to be used for financial gains - thats so unfair .. I would rather have an honest hard working man who gave me gifts from the heart then from tiffany's any day then some hot shot cold hearted rich arsehole who thought he could buy his way into my heart !

joyaepace: I mentioned those too under 'quality people'! But in my opinion, they rarely will get very rich, just well off.
And if they are genuinely doing it for their family, that is where all the wealth will be distributed. There should be no bulging personal savings account on the side !!
jac379: No you had a fair point and that's my limit - I won't let my child suffer for the sake of a relationship. That's the point at which I will (and have) ended relationships - when someone takes more than they should, especially when there is no need. Money does matter to me at this level, but not at the gifts etc level.
okay, your past has thought you something ( to not always follow your heart) based on what criteria will you choose your future hubby, date ???

Well if expensive gifts are important to you then I guess a poor man would not be a very good choice. As for borrowing money, well we should never spend money on unnecessary things unless we actually have the money. If someone were to actually borrow money for unnecessary things then an old saying would come to mind "a fool and his money are soon parted".
