maryrachelle: Do you think that is true or just politically correct propaganda?
How many of you would be with someone who was a hard worker but poor, but who was also kind, wonderful, compassionate and of course who you loved and who loved you? Would you be ok with never receiving those expensive birthday,Christmas and valentines day gifts? This is not a judgement on anyone who feels money is important in a relationship.
I was waiting for people to give their opinion ,and now that I read their post, I just don`t wanna mess with they way they observe reality Yes most answers are good in a way ,but somehow they come up as rehearsed and expected and in my younger days I would probably give the same answer
Nowadays Im not so sure anymore people are mostly driven with the status in society or looks .

It doesn't matter what other people think or feel only what you think or feel for/about yourself ... Then finding someone who's thinking/feeling is close to your own to share experiences with

I see money & love as separate issues - I doubt I'd fall in love with someone who was penniless just because I'd be more apt to get along with someone who shares my values such as my work ethic

Poverty is a state of mind in most western countries.
Roof over head? Food on table? Clothes on back? Transport to get to where one has to go? Family and trusted friends? Freedom to walk out of the door and go for a stroll? Health service?

I think love and money are two different things. I havent fallen in love with a rich man yet. I have always paid my own bills either in a relationship or not and I have no issue with paying my bills to the end of my days if need be.

What do you see around you, regarding couples ????
I know what I see, I know what I used to believe, I know what I have experienced, I know what I have learned. Which is not necessarely what other couples have experienced and learned. I know what I value NOW. Which is also not necessarely what other couples value or think is of value.

What IS poverty in a western world?
Depends on what are your standards.I met a woman who ran some business and she told me that she got very poor those days. At the same time she was driving a good car, her son too, her husband too, they were living in a large luxury house... etc. When I expressed my surprise with her claim about them being poor, she told me: "It all depends with whom you compare yourself."
Looking_Heart: money can by you a quality standard of living, security, romantic exotic destination, quality health care, peace of mind.
although money cant force anyone to love one another, it can open doorways you would have without it
The type of security and peace of mind that money can buy is only an illusion of security. It doesn't matter how rich you are your loved one can pass away or become very ill, your house can be flooded by storm or wrecked by a tsunami, your children can get into "trouble" etc ...
