SCatlyn: I see what you're saying about "abstension" not being "for", (though I don't have enough knowledge of the current situation to fully read the politics behind it).
*Actually, I really just wanted to say, tomcatwarne: I LOVE THAT CAT PICTURE!
Conrad73: Loss of Billions in Arms-Sales,first of all! The one wonders what private Communications especially Russia and China got from a certain "Esteemed" Member of the UN General Assembly, concerning the Caucasus, and certain Chinese Provinces!

tomcatwarne: ab·sten·tion /æb'st?n??n/ Show Spelled Show IPA
–noun 1. an act or instance of abstaining. 2. withholding of a vote. Use abstention in a Sentence See images of abstention Search abstention on the Web
Origin: 1515–25; < Late Latin abstention- (stem of abstentio ), equivalent to Latin abstent ( us ), past participle of abstinere to abstain + -ion- -ion The abstention, instead of the vote for or against is a significant message, as you must know from your committee work. I am not trying to make any political point, just trying to say the an abtension is not another wors for "a vote for" I think this should be born in mind. As for the olitics behind these countries abstentions, I think we can read that.
Exactly. For Russia it is political influence and the position where they can criticize the US and whomever they wish and for China, it is pure $$ as they get much of their oil from Libya. Oil they will get with or without Qaddafi.
Hence, the abstentions are meaningless as both knew this was going to go forward with or without them.

tomcatwarne: At last NATO is officially involved.
NATO is a defensive organization and was hard put to enter Afghanistan but for the fact the US was attacked from there so what is the pretext here I wonder.
mnowsa: The world health organization (WHO), in collaboration with the FDA, has finally confirmed the outbreak of 2 deadly viruses called 'EHTWAU'(everybody hates the west and USA) and 'TWAUS'(the west and USA suck) among some people in this world. the primary investigation of these two viruses suggest that they both have some 'stunning' capabilities to cripple the mind and the power of reasoning of people. while the exact reasons to this kind of deadly outbreak are still unknown/inconclusive, it is feared that ill-educcation/lack of education, ignorance and hatred are the breeding grounds of these kind of viruses. Urging people not to panic over the deadly outbreak, the WHO maintains that all we need is to have some patience and open mind over the counter drugs to neutralize the effets of these viruses. the WHO also urges people to stay away from the drug "start a war' to counter these viruses because, while this kind of 'drug' can have some instant 'results' in short run, it can also have a very bad side-effetcs in the long run.
Doesn't need much Speculation! Everytime Russia steps out of Line in the Eyes of that Member, something bad happens in the Caucasus or even in Moscow Subway!
Or certain Chinese Provinces will be extremely Restive!
SCatlyn: Really now??? Surely you're not serious with that answer. (If you are, you have far less knowledge than even I gave you credit for.) And you are absolutely wrong. Just ask the immigrants themselves............
Did you know Kansas has had a very fast growing Mexican population for some years now?
Florida, Texas, Arizona, California are ON THE BORDER WITH MEXICO (If you're not speaking of immigrants from Mexico, then where are these so-called people from, who go to those states for the "warm" there??)
I would suspect that he meant Canadians, seeing as he's from Canada. There are a lot of "snowbirds" heading south of the border to enjoy life during the winter, as there always have been.

I thought about adding Canadians to my "self-corrected" post about it but didn't really know if there were many(and thought I might offend Canadians by saying so).
However, I don't think he meant Canadians, as he was responding to these, the original question & one of the replies:
joyaepace: : I am thinking about this, is it right that everyone wants to go to America? I would only go there as a tourist, not to live. Could anyone explain why would people want to go to live in America? What are advantages?
leigh2154: Some reasons why people from other countries want to live in America...
Many people come to America in search of opportunity, they come for our free programs which include welfare, housing assistance, educational assistance, food, and free healthcare for their children.....they come here to escape socialism.... they come her to escape terrorism.....they come here to escape dictators...they come here to be safe...they come here for freedom... they come here because America is a superpower....
(It is nice to know that enough Canadians like us, or at least don't mind us too much, to come to the U.S. for warmer weather )
