Would you rather own your own home or rent?

Personally I have no interest whatsoever in owning.A house to me is a burden holding you down.I love moving and do so every couple of years, sometimes more.I also enjoy the fact that the pain in the but of mowing the grass, shoveling the snow and having to fix any repairs that go wrong on the place is not my responsibility.

So what do you prefer?Has anyone owned, didn't like it and went back to renting?

I've always rented.I'm not tied down to selling if I ever became tired of living where I live. The way the housing market is today here in my area I'm glad I don't have a house to worry about.

Well, I don't own a penny on my home but my R.E. taxes are double what any mortgage payment on it ever was! mumbling and now that I'm retired I'd love to be in a fee-simple condo so I can travel easier w/o worrying about the home maintenance thing and whether it looks occupied or not..... moping but I don't want to give it away in order to move..... dunno

I've owned a home before and luckily sold it before the housing crash. I move a lot, owning a home at this time does not work with my lifestyle.

Everyone always says that but I think if I was tied to a house for the rest of my life I would hang myself.

I have wandering feet and they frequently need to move.

Own, I would never rent after owning a home. At least the money I pay is for something worthwhile.
I don't mind doing things around the house, upkeep and all that.

I'd rather rent and let the landlord take care of any repairs. I have a pretty decent landlord who does what needs doing when needed.
I have no complaints about my neighbors other than the fact that two are moving out. One of them is super hot drop dead gorgeousgrin

If only I can get someone else in here as a room mate to share expenses. The rent eats up one hell of chunk of my pay each month

I bought a home years ago, lived in it a while, then rented it to my aunt for years, till she broke her hip and had to go to a nursing home.I moved back in for a couple years,as i got older it got harder for me to do the repairs that was needed, hiring someone cost so much, and they do try to take advance of single woman as far as charging. So i sold it,some times i wish i had it back, then i remember all the upkeep...the taxes...rolling on the floor laughing
