Can anyone help me? we are going to the JERVIS BAY area in a couple of weeks and taking the Dogs with us.

Don't have Paralysis Ticks in Benalla so what is the best protection I can get for the dogs. Could not bear for anything to happen to them, we are staying for a week.

Have searched google but mainly ads.

So anyone... what works best for your Dogs.

help

You can buy tick collar, in any event check your dog round his\her neck, behind ears any place he\she cannot reach
if you listen carefully to ur dog they will push the part of body that has tick upon u, feel for the tick and pull it out
also the stuff u put on horses i forget the name, ah gamma wash
bath him\her in that

I have chatted to my Vet but he thinks nothing really is 100%effective he suggested FRONTLINE Plus.

Will Clip the big hairy Clumbers but Shane my Golden Retriever gets very depressed if I cut his Coat off blushing don't laugh,he thinks he is human and always looking in the mirror.

Robs idea sounds good, Mala Wash worked great on a horse who was covered in them he had just arrived from NSW we nearly lost him poor darling.

But will do whatever is necessary.

Thanks guyshug

might give them a head ache but wont hurt, another u could try bath them in few drops of Tea Tree Oil, (don't put in eyes) that should last for while
keep dogs away from bracken, shrubby bush etc and check them by hand regularly

Yeah I agree rob, I try to use natural ingredients mostly, as a flea deterrent for my dog but nothing, including commercial preparations, is 100% effective.

Constant manual checking is the best way for ticks for sure.

I've always used Malawash when fleas got out of hand. Have put it on dogs and a kitten ... without ill effect. Whatever is left in the bucket after the pet bath, I put all their blankets in to soak.

I know it knocks whatever is on them for 6. Does it have a residual effect?? cause you'd need that for ticks I'd guess.

dunno

Advantage and frontline work for the fleas for one month, but not for ticks. For ticks is only a two week coverage at max.Keep on checking as usual
