I think the fear of rejection is a big part, it is really a blow to a guy when he builds the nerve (so to say) to approach a woman then gets shot down. With me I'll flirt and compliment most women, especially those I am attracted to, but don't always follow thru unless the woman flirts in return or shows intrest in some way. I think for some men it might be the thrill of the chase. but i think its a 2 way street. I think as a man if im interested I say and do things to see what kind of response I get. If the response is telling ok its not going anywhere its time to back off then thats what I do. If the response is showing interest then you pursue from there.
