I thought something struck a chord of memory in your post, L. Down in your neck of the woods (ok, Trinidad, actually) lives the holder of most Test Cricket runs in an inning, ever: Brian Lara, with 400 runs in an inning vs. England played in St. Johns.
Lara also holds 3rd place in the same record, with 375 runs, again vs. England, in a match played 10 years earlier.
