EagleWoman: Hey Soli!!!

Hopefully I'm not gonna be wasted by anyone (not even myself)!!

Looks like I've just hit another ceative phase!! Hadn't painted much (well not on canvass) since last year!!

Good for you! I'm trying to finish off seven at the same time in spurts; I did better using rolls for a continuous painting then cutting into sections...laugh (hey, it works!)
I'm also on the verge of inventing an entirely new form of Art...but I have to get it copy-written first...wine

A few geometricals, a couple of Jazz/Blues, couple of African tribal women from old sketches from travels.
I like the rolls method; watched wall paper prints being made and used it for painting...on the back of wallpaper; design stores often throw out rolls and the large sample books that show the wallpaper designs, great for painting and drawing, as are old large rough canvas paper maps; using the reverse side is a free way of getting good canvas sheets; same with cosmetic stores throwing out 'old' lipsticks. I use them for quick sketches and portraits. The effect is like using Chinese brushes, then just apply a fixative. Nice colours alsogrin "Mixed media" is an understatement and the materials are all free...

Sounds fantastic!! All of it!!!

I love "recycling" and invented new uses for things!! The mosaics I do are done with all the tile samples the shop had thrown into a skip!!

I quite like canvasses though because they can be hung without frames. When I learn a bit of carpentry may be I'll make my own frames and then I can go scavenge for "has been" rolls of wall paper laugh

PS I've used nail polish on paintings before now!!

And the best of all I painted a picture on canvass with only stuff out of the kitchen cupboard: tumeric, coffee + fine grains of coffee, red beetroot, wine, tea etc laugh

EagleWoman: ........

Hi Isabela!
There is thread about films and I did comment on it about the film “Never let me go” and it is about some children but the topic I will let it out of it. What was also interesting was that children had art classes, painting so the teachers could see who had “a soul”.

I wonder if you have seen it.

Nail polish is great for colour, sheen, durability and as a substitute for gesso; I experimented with my wife's make-up when I painted our cat unto a Chines screen in 2 panels; also used poly-fill for creating mountains, then sealing it with paints used for model airplanes. The colours and the mountains still are as new while those on imported Chinese screens fade and flake off. Coffee and grounds are great for instant 'aging' of certain surfaces. Many forgers use it...grin
(Dali let his cheetahs' pee on some of his painting to have a bit more patina to themlaugh )

A painter friend commented that he was glad I hadn't gone to art college/academie ... because it meant I hadn't been "given" bounderies or been taught "how it should be done" laugh

GingerBe: Some acrylic, some mixed media. I am always working, in a way. If I see things or combinations of things to draw of paint, then it is an ongoing process. I usually exhibit around end of November, so usually work in earnest during the Summer and Autumn. All of the stuff I put here is sold, except the wall, which I did for my grandkids in their playroom.

Love your work you are a true artist thumbs up

RDM59: Hi....don't be shy, if you are creative and artistic share some photos of your work here with friends and potential partners. Let them see that artistic side of you.

I need to get myself off this computer and sketching/ painting again before the eye sight goes and the arthritis sets in.

I did this sketch a very long time ago when I was 15. It is done on 'scrapper board', a silver foil card coated in black ink which is then scratched off with a fine pointed tool. The Forth Bridge ( built 1890 ) near Edinburgh, Scotland

Very good and clever way you drew it.
