What do you think about nuclear energy? It is economically profitable for the first sight but how the Japanese example proved economy sometimes can show its black side. What about radioactive waste? How much we can produce? What about the future generations?

nuclear energy is the most efficient energy in our time. Of course there are risks and they are mainly due to poor maintenance. wine

Maybe this kind of energy is efficient but what to do when it breaks down because of ie. poor maintenance?

A un report said ther wwas no need for Nuclear power but with the world growing so fast and the use of electric needed more what else is there.

Solar can hepl as well as win and wave power but only to a point wha we really need is a breakthrough with hydrogen. As this would be free to produce and freinldy to the planet.

Hows you in poland?eu

I think solar and other renewables will be developing very fast in the near future and they have the chance to overcome nuclear energy but only when people agree and want to join the trend.

What needs to be doneis to break the Opec's strangle on oil along with a few others... and to end our reliance on it and give people choice in where they get their power...

I lived near a nuclear powerstation when I was younger and I have read about it... when Nuclear power is used and maintained correctly it is efficient more efficient than any other power out there... The Japanese example is not due to bad maintenance but more to an unforeseen set of circumstances... Chernobyl was bad maintenance thats humans being humans... for me I have no issues with nuclear power. Also what makes it amusing is that nuclear power to power spaceflight is banned to keep space radiation free... there's more radiation up there than we can possibly ever produce...

Margo19991: I agree with you. Zero risk does not exist and the danger is too high to disregard it. When the plant breaks down it does not matter the mistake was made by human or nature. This mistake kills!!! not only one person but several or much more. For what? For gaining money?

Yes, renewables have high initial cost but people can earn independence from hudge companies having their own power station for example. Their own power station can have a group of people. And the initial cost is balanced with time. This is the moment any user of renewables can count money he has saved.

applause

"Huge cost" of clean renewable energy prevents the costly mistakes/residue of dirty energy that most probably makes it the cheapest energy of all... Twill be interesting to see what the Japanese will do to replace the Toxic factories that have and will continue to affect peoples of that country for some time yet

Unless you do not have a car, oil is obsolete or maybe you are using methanol!

For the countries which depend on nulear energy it could be really horrible obstacle to overcome. I am not sure if they ever decide to do it.
