Lion's, zebra's, giraffe's, tiger's, elephant's....

There are 'millionare's' throwing money toward's this sort of 'hunting'...to eat, to display on their wall...

I've seen some really graphic picture's of some majestic creature's after they've been murdered...'happy snap's'...

I found them rather disturbing...moping

So many animal's on the verge of extinction...and there are people who pay to kill them...i'm trying to wrap my head around it... money spent wisely?...seriously, if i had so much money coming from my bum, i could think of more useful thing's!!

confused

Generally if they are up for hunting it is for a reason, eg culling, and the proceeds go into parks where they care for these animals. As for the money, I feel the same about expensive cars, but it is their money and their choice. It will always be hard for women to understand hunting because throughout history the man has been the hunter. Animals are going to become extinct for various reasons, that is the way of the world and far more species became extinct before the arrival of homo sapien than since, even all of our predecessors including the last of them, Neanderthal man.

hunting in africa is not like it used to be.there are more rangers in serenghetti and the kahalari employed just to target poachers and iv never heard of girraffes and lions getting hunted in this day and age.
Rhinos and elephants are the main target for there tusks in which there used by the asian black market for aphrodesiac and medicine purposes.

If it is necesary to cull thats fine but get the right people to do it it rangers ect. Its wrong to kill an animal for the joy of it and thats what these millionaires are doing. Gone are the days when man has to go out and hunt for his food. If man still had that mentality he should still be living in the bush with the animals. What is to stop these millionaires from just donating money?
Yes our predecessors are probably responseable for some animals being extinct...but they did it to survive, they didnt have supermarkets or herds of livestock then.
How can anyone get pleasure out of killing or watching a frightened animal die?

I watched a show (I think it was 60 mins) a while ago, where millionaires paid to hunt animals. The animals were shot with tranquilizers and then photos were taken of the hunter and animals. While the animal was asleep they also did vet work on them. Then they were woken up and let free. The money was used to maintain the parks and rangers.

It sounds like a something different to what your talking about though. Sounds disgusting to me.

For Aussielegend, the question was about legal hunters, not poachers. It is the poachers who take no pride in a one shot kill etc.
A hunter does not watch a frightened animal die, the animal is dead instantly and most times is not even aware of the hunter. I was suggesting that animals and our predecessors all became extinct and that is part of this world and the way it has always worked. People forget that we humans and all we do are part of nature. To argue otherwise is to suggest that chimps using tools to get termites is unnatural as well. Like it or not, we and what we do are all part of nature.
