Aussielegend, Can I ask you to please stay on topic and refrain from name calling? Yes it is the very cause for the continuous cycle of life's born in suffering. The main cause of rebirth. Cause and Effect is certain whether human or animal, its why our human rebirth is so beneficial, with it you have an enhanced ability to reason, the main difference between animal and human rebirth

Rob, how would you react if I suggested that many of the emotional statements from the negative in this discussion are the product of extreme PC.
Part of an overall aim of deskilling a population? This along with creating dependence on "the authorities", blind obediance and an education system that is focused on skilling for repetitive work at the expense of the ability to think and queation?
The green movement and pc movements are playing right into the hands of the elite.

I believe shooting is a skill , its bloody hard to get a bullet to go exactly where you want it to go,Ive been to target practice Im a shocking shot I also agree with killing feral pigs , rabbits and foxes .What the question was about was trophy hunters big game hunters who kill beasts of majesty for the sheer pleasure of out witting an animal of larger size and smaller intelect!
Im my opinion this barbaric and mostly outlawed practice is committed by men have no moral conscience oh and a small peepeewine

Kontikitact: Killing any living entity....is only enjoyed by humans....

Sadly that is very true. If a lion makes a kill its not for pleasure its because its hungry. If man is hungry they can go to the supermarket. Im not against hunting, justing hunting for the pleasure of the kill. Thier is nothing wrong a cull, or killing feral animals as long as it is done humanely. Yes we kill livestock for meat but this is also okay with me as long as it is humane. When man had to hunt to survive it was alright but man no longer needs to do that. Im not sure but l think its iceland, that they are allowed to kill a certain amount of whales a year because they do need them for food to survive.

You have illustrated my point about third party killing Faithe. I would also argue that hunters, particularly ones who pay big dollars, will always be aiming for the most humane shot they can take. I also find it difficult to understand how killing for meat, or culling populations to enable more meat production is any less moral than hunting for sport. Lets us be honest. People ride push bikes for pleasure, sail boats and fly gliders all activities that are not longer needed as we have technology to do the job in a manner more suited to today's lifestyle. Surely hunting is no different?

We will have to agree to disagree...l am totally against killing an animal for pleasure even if it is done humanely.
As for bike riding, sailing ect; yes we do it for pleasure but we are not taking a life in the process of it.

Absolutely I think it goes back to Cavemen times where they killed to survive.

I believe that some males still have that hunting instinct in their genes and maybe not as evolved as the rest of us.grin wave super

On a lighter note similar subject, had to share this

An Arizona Department of Safety Officer pulled over a pick-up truck owner
for a faulty taillight. When the officer approached the driver, the man
behind the wheel handed the officer his driver's license, insurance card and
a concealed weapon carry permit.

The officer took all the documents, looked them over and said. "Mr..
Smith, I see you have a CCP. Do you have any weapons with you?"

The driver replied, " Yes sir, I have a 357 handgun in a hip holster, a
.45 in the glove box and a .22 derringer in my boot."

The officer looked at the driver and asked, "Anything else?"

"Yes sir, I have a Mossberg 500 12 gauge and an AR-15 behind the seat."

The officer asked if the man was driving to or from a shooting range
and the man said he wasn't, so the officer bent over and looked into the
driver's face and said "Mr. Smith, you're carrying quite a few guns.
May I ask what you are afraid of?

Mr. Smith locked eyes with the officer and calmly answered,
"Not a fu**ing thing!"

Oh bye the way hows nakima?

I have heard all the old arguments against game shooting like, “no other animal kills for fun apart from humans.” Actually allot of animals kill for fun like the feline family, than we have young animals killing to master the art of survival. Another word “INFANTICIDE” comes to mind, which is practiced amongst all animals including fish and insect. The fact is, we live on a most violent planet where life feeds on life and killing for food is a must. Some of us enjoy it for sport, as I have pointed out above, we are not alone in the animals kingdom to do this. There are also many health benefits eating game animals over domestic cultivated ones. For a start they are leaner, of course you also have to do a bit of exercise to find one and the obvious comradely. BUT if you believe this is not enough of an argument for it, how about protecting the environment at no expense to the government…. controlling the over populated species, foxes, feral pigs and rabbits are a mains to the farmers.

Yes aussie despite your motivated popular opinion there are skills involved, such as awareness. A feral pig will tear you apart if you miss and they are also well know to do gang attacks. There is also the skill of knowing how to identify habits, tracks, traits..etc You have no idea how much is invloved. Killing an animals from out of the back of a 4x4 is not what I would call hunting.

Yes human life is short, its temporary and yet the most valued rebirth any sentient being can obtain. An explanation on the possibility i listened to ran along the lines. If you imagine a turtle surfacing from the depth of the largest of oceans and rising to the surface put his/her head through the only half a meter wide golden ring, in comparison with the billions of other non human sentient being rebirth.
Cause if we look there are zillions of other being having mind and fearing death swarming about, from those tiny creatures swarming about and the fish, birds, cats, dogs, cows, lions etc, zillions of them. They all migrating just like our selves, birth and death driven by karma (moving energy,) created in consequence of cause and effect by actions of body, speech and mind, which is certain.

And directly to the question, its therefore really silly to spend whole life engaging in worldly activities instead of looking into the actual nature of our experience.
We our selves don't pain and suffering and shouldn't cause pain and suffering or interference in the karmas of others, to do so is unskilful

I do not do this as a sport... I do it out of necessity...

I have never gone out and shot animals, but I know how to use a hand gun. grin
