I second you on that one old chap... played Rugby Union and League for 10 years... surprised I don't have Cauliflowered Ears...
football is primarily a game of skill and technique...not brute strength like rugby..
its the fact that players in britain are selected on their pace and power rather than their skill, technique and footballing intelligence which is why the England football team constantly underacheivees in major tournaments..
messi, xavi and iniesta would never have made it through the system if they were english..

in liverpool we say that rugby is for fat posh kids who can't play football.....in my experience there's alot of truth in that !
