70Libra: People you don't jump into bed with, are unrelated to, and have more than just a nodding acquaintance with?
And I thought people should be friends first and then jump into bed. That's what I've been doing wrong? I guess I should have done it in reversed order
GACryptic: Why do men post on their profile "my friends say" or "my friends tell me" ???? I have to wonder if the friends are just pumping them up or telling them the truth? What does everyone think?

Not a bad thread -- just a curious one.
I can only speak for what's going through my own mind as I write my profile, and yes, I do say that. It would sound a bit egotistical to just come right out and say, "I'm a handsome, warm-hearted, endearing guy", so, whether or not it is 'helpful' in softening the narcissism, I guess the hope is that, gosh, if somebody else said it, it doesn't sound so much like bragging, but more or less like a testimonial, I suppose. Here's raw and honest narration, for you, then:
Howdy, I'm just about the cutest old cowboy anybody could ever hope to meet, as welcome as the flowers in spring and handy around the house in every way imaginable, heck, I'm so hot I turn myself on, so don't miss a beat in getting back to me 'cause you would never forgive yourself for missing this golden opportunity.

people care too much about what other people think is my thought
Uniquemom61: I meant I hope they're not imaginary....
Well those 'friends' lie to you all the time anyway. Those are the ones that tell you "you are so good looking that you could melt the heart of anyone". But they forgot the Ice Queens of this world don't melt.

GACryptic: My profile is from me! and my thoughts of myself are not good.
Because you said this, I went and read your profile, twice, to be exact. Everybody's beautiful, dearest, just like the song. (You have a very pleasant look--by the way). One of my very best longtime friends, now gone, fought hard for her life even when she was told she had not much longer. One of the most memorable things she said to me was "work at seeing the world awesomely, gloriously, wonderfully, marvelously, and soon you will find yourself making that optimism come true". See a crossroad as a confluence, a failure as an opportunity, an unkind word or gesture from someone as a chance to model understanding and warmth, an unrequited love as a blessing, a traffic jam as a moment to check priorities and be thankful you didn't get in a wreck or worse, and a realization that you were born to step to the music of a different drummer and be thankful that God saw fit to give you an awareness and love of life few others have.

Or should that be Howdy
HEY YOU-----GET OFFA MY CLOUD!!
(Okay, Nuliiiiii--turn the lights off, lower your voice to a gravely Charleton Heston sharpness, throw me on the bed and tease me to near insanity with a hot oil massage, put on retro T.V. to "Rawhide" or "Maverick", and I'll rise to the occasion.
