Lately, I've been looking at peoples' profiles who wrote to me and every single one of them looks fake. The latest came from someone who claims to have a masters degree and cannot spell "vice versa" ... so methinks that if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's most likely not an eagle... though it could be a goose.. damn logic
I must say that their writing is getting more sophisticated. They must be reading the forums to get tips on what to say and what not to say or perhaps have taken english classes... but still...
Bottom line..I respond to noone anymore and that defeats the purpose of the site.
At what point do you decide to write back or not write back?
hey scubadiva ...we're in same shoes,im full of doubt...but still i respond to their mails coz it's my nature.im not born a snob,,,,there's always nice way for letting them know that you are not interested.what if that man is true?....just give a little respect to others feelings

Hiya C
Hope you're enjoying Frankfurt. I still feel dizzy thinking of standing at the top of that really high tower there years ago
My Profile states now,Meet Me In The Forums! Was offered tens of Millions a few days ago,the usual Scamletter I normally get in Yahoo, reported, and to my knowledge the Person is still here!

Hi Leni You know, my first inclination is also to be polite and write back, buuuut... lately every message I get says: "I want to know more about you" (which I do not like as an opening line). Maybe that is what it is... .
You know, the last one I responded to told me in the third mail that he "also owns a business in Ghana" ... and I'm thinking... "@#$%^&*!! "

An "hello dear" does it for me every time.
Also flattery that is O.T.T. and 40 year old men upwards sending me mail. What the heck I'm 71
I never respond to anyone that sends me an email address either.
I always send a smiley back with "not looking",which is actually on my profile.

Hey Deeee,
Kako si? I'm busy doing a total renovation of a new condo and have been living in this construction site for the last month. Yesterday, one of my guys nearly electrocuted himself when he accidentally cut a main power cable. Can you say big flame? So every day is an adventure in and by itself Hey, next time you're in FFM, let me know

Ah, you swiss are so cunning (refering to meet me in the forums).
You know, I'm surprised to read that having reported the million dollar woman yielded no results. Odd.

I'm great thanks
Hope the guy is ok. Yes i sure will. Need to buy you a &
I usually respond, just to be sure. Like I will ask them where exactly is Texas, Texas? Actually that is on their profile. I had one that was Florida, Florida. When I ask, I never get an answer back. The last guy had black eyes! And Didn't get it, when I said "not on your life" (wanted personal email info). But, nice me, explain what it meant. They need education too, ya know. They are getting better at their English, but if you read on, you can usually find the red flag

Have great weekend
Yes, he's fine. He was very lucky!!. Bottom line was that he had stress with the mother-in-law at home, didn't pay attention and voila. I don't even want to think about the trouble we'd have been in if if he'd gotten hurt or worse. Also lucky there are emergency electricians who show up after hours to fix such messes.
Next time you're in town, the is on me. Gastfreundschaft, you know

Bless you. Another nice, polite lady. Agree with you, by the way about TX, TX.
Question for ya... why do you bother to explain terminology if they're supposedly americans?

scottyburd: I email them back and say "Thank you for email but i'll decline and wish you good luck here on the site" somehow its easy to suss them out..
When I get mail I usually call out strike 1, strike 2 etc as I read their mail and look through their profile. I don't want to give away what I look for that gets a strike but I'm sure you know. 6-12 strikes is common. If they get past my strike counter with 2-3 strikes I may answer them with some questions which they should know if they are legit. I usually don't hear back or in rare cases I get a generic response.
I think CS is missing the boat by not utilizing the abundance of scam spotting talent on their site. Maybe not deligate the authority to boot someone but just advise CS who to check out.
