Anyone else suffering from this?

Lately, I've been looking at peoples' profiles who wrote to me and every single one of them looks fake. The latest came from someone who claims to have a masters degree and cannot spell "vice versa" doh ... so methinks that if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's most likely not an eagle... though it could be a goose.. damn logic laugh

I must say that their writing is getting more sophisticated. They must be reading the forums to get tips on what to say and what not to say or perhaps have taken english classes... confused but still...

Bottom line..I respond to noone anymore and that defeats the purpose of the site. doh

At what point do you decide to write back or not write back?

Hi Leni wave
You know, my first inclination is also to be polite and write back, buuuut... lately every message I get says: "I want to know more about you" (which I do not like as an opening line). Maybe that is what it is... confused.

You know, the last one I responded to told me in the third mail that he "also owns a business in Ghana" ... and I'm thinking... "@#$%^&*!! " laugh

Bless your heart for being so patient bouquet

Yesterday, one of my guys nearly electrocuted himself when he accidentally cut a main power cable. Can you say big flame? doh So every day is an adventure in and by itself laugh Hey, next time you're in FFM, let me know wave

Oh goodness, yes! "Hello Dear", the email address and statements to the effect that I am Aphrodite reincarnate are instant "DX" buttons.

Funny, I am in the same boat in terms of age. When I get mail from 25-40 year olds, I just shake my head, you know laugh

Not even going to get into the "short guy" thing.. that's a separate thread laugh

I usually respond, just to be sure. Like I will ask them where exactly is Texas, Texas? Actually that is on their profile.
I had one that was Florida, Florida. When I ask, I never get an answer back.
The last guy had black eyes! And Didn't get it, when I said "not on your life" (wanted personal email info). But, nice me, explain what it meant. They need education too, ya know.
They are getting better at their English, but if you read on, you can usually find the red flag

Yes, he's fine. He was very lucky!!. Bottom line was that he had stress with the mother-in-law at home, didn't pay attention and voila. I don't even want to think about the trouble we'd have been in if if he'd gotten hurt or worse. Also lucky there are emergency electricians who show up after hours to fix such messes.

Next time you're in town, the beer is on me. Gastfreundschaft, you know wine

Bless you. Another nice, polite lady. Agree with you, by the way about TX, TX. laugh

Question for ya... why do you bother to explain terminology if they're supposedly americans?

When I get mail I usually call out strike 1, strike 2 etc as I read their mail and look through their profile. I don't want to give away what I look for that gets a strike but I'm sure you know. 6-12 strikes is common. If they get past my strike counter with 2-3 strikes I may answer them with some questions which they should know if they are legit. I usually don't hear back or in rare cases I get a generic response.

I think CS is missing the boat by not utilizing the abundance of scam spotting talent on their site. Maybe not deligate the authority to boot someone but just advise CS who to check out.
