...should we be giving free diet classes to people to show them how to lose weight, get their heart rate up and reduce their blood sugars?
It could be the best preventative measure govt can do prior to the baby boomers crashing the health bugets.professor

Being the largest population segment, boomers are rapidly ageing and their impact on health budgets will be sorely felt in our future X, Y Gen taxes.

Other generations didn't have such an enormous number as the boomers. For sure previous ageing generations cause expenses to health budgets, only their numbers were so much smaller than the boomer numbers who are soon to hemerage nursing homes, respite care and hospital beds.

With the current financial collapse of the stock markets! I don’t think too many will be retiring in the near future? Now that they have lost a lot of money in souper they will be forced to work longer, my brother and a few others were talking about the stock market effect last night, lucky my souper is in government shears? If they lose money they just increase your rates?

Must be why they say diabetes type II sufferers out number smokers and cost far more these days?
ie: dietician bills and gym memberships would cost us far less than the health costs associated with peoples lifestyle choices.

daggyone: Some of those things are caused by poor diet which a dietician could help with and exercise is beneficial for Arthuritis, could always sit and chat on a CS forum all day though and see how quickly the joints lock up?

rolling on the floor laughing get arthretic knuckles from typing....

I think that the desire to get healthy has to come from within for it to be successful, I honestly dont believe that Government can legislate it.

A lot of people say they want to be skinny, but haven't the faintest idea of how to do it, the govt is responsible for education, not maccas or Krispy Kreme

Its true, remember the old 'life be in it' campaign?

well it actually was a huge success! it did get people up off their butts and outside.

Perhaps we need the modern Norm with the remote.
