serene56: Been thinking about how many artists who are in their .. ahem .. twilight years make their way here for concerts

What are your thoughts on this, should they give it up so we can remember them when they were young and attractive

Or, if they can still hold a tune, should we shell out our hard-earned dollars and support them

Some haven't been heard from for years but seem to always find their way to our shores .. and our RSL clubs

Thats easily answered as they will only last as long as the public will pay to see them.

Cliff Richard ,Rolling Stones and Tom Jones were good value for many years I dont think that the music industry caters to the public very much who are over 15 years so we have to get our type of music from somewhere.

Look at Chris Issak for instance he sticks pretty much to the sixties type of music and he has sell out concerts everywhere,In Aus we have Damien Leath he is so talented he could be huge in the right hands.dunno

Going to see elton john in the hunter valley in dec..his voice is still as good as ever..along with leo sayer who still puts on a terrific concert and his vocals are still brilliant seeing him recently.

As for local talent..richard clapton.the radiators who still rock who regularly play at the pub where i work still belt out the tunes to the diehard punters.Icehouse, cold chisel the triffids.russell morris, mental as anything, mal eastic,1927 are still playing around the club and pub scene in sydney and are still in fine voice.
