Where I grew up the wild animals did come into the yard. Had to shoot wild dogs away from the chicken coop more than once. The nearest store/bar/feed store was about a mile up a dirt road.
The nearest big store was about 6 mile as the crow flies about 13 by road.
Being "country" is not just where you live or the setting you prefer to be in. I'll take the country (or the mountains, the woods, the outdoors) any day of the week over the city.
But mixing me with a "country boy" is like mixing oil and water. They just don't have the same mindset that I do. That's one reason why my relationships have never worked out. "Good ol' boy" and me just do not EVEN mix.
ountry is exaxly where you live...sorry jeanc there is no substitute and not all us rednecks are mindless ...shouldn't you be asleep by now???btw I am now engaged to nwstar
I've never really lived in the country, per se. I've lived in urban areas mostly. When i was married, I was in a wooded area, somewhat country. Our house was surrounded by 300 acres of protected woodlands. (No hunting allowed) so we had deer come drink from our man-made ornamental pond a lot. It was a nice setting.

I would love to live there again.
