I love the Texan inflection on this. I really enjoyed my time in Texas. Thank you, John

Woodstock {1969} brought a change to the world. Musicians turned toward focusing on live performances rather than records at the time. This movement changed the future, as we see today.

She ( that is the other Abigail) was around before my time. However I am familiar with her, she had some one hit numbers and placed a racy role in a TV series. It made her quite infamous.

From the little I know, it was quite a controversial performance at the time... But Woodstock will always be remembered. Can you imagine being there?

I was of age back then and close enough to visit the Festival, but my friends and I decided to wait for the movie in 1970. The movie was introduced in outdoor drive in Theaters where we could watch it from our Automobiles.

The people who visited Woodstock in 1969 were politically active against the Vietnam War and celebrated with Peace and Music to influence American Society; unlike the OWS{Occupy Wall Street} happening now. OWS has no speeches or music to support their cause.

(Notice the reference to Wall Street back then}

War stimulates the economy. Sadly.

Hello there John, nice to see you. wave

Woodstock is legendary... whether for the right, or wrong reasons.

Yes, that is true! World War 2 brought the US out of the Great Depression because many jobs were provided to build bombs and other Military hardware. That brought about the baby boom of the 50’s.

What Hollywood teaches us is how we associate different periods in history with different music styles. Later on, lyrics reflected upon the political stance of the time... They could tell a story and get the general consensus across.

Great Comment!

Hollywood and Music work hand in hand. The greatest Movies always have a Musical Theme or Orchestra. Many times a political or love musical statement is made:

(HD 720p) The Way We Were, Instrumental (Violin and Piano)

/

Memories
Light the corners of my mind
Misty watercolor memories
Of the way we were
Scattered pictures
Of the smiles we left behind
Smiles we gave to one another
For the way we were

Can it be that it was all so simple then
Or has time rewritten every line
If we had the chance to do it all again
Tell me - Would we? Could we?

Memories
May be beautiful and yet
What's too painful to remember
We simply choose to forget

So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were

So it's the laughter
We will remember
Whenever we remember
The way we were

Thanks John... do I get an elephant stamp? A gold star? grin

Seriously though, I love that song, "Memories"... They played it at my Grandmother's funeral... and as it played memories of her swept through my mind. It was very humbling that I could know a lady as nice as she was, as sincere, as thoughtful and loving. People who spoke about her at the funeral recited stories of their recollections of her, and it was quite emotional returning to where she had been throughout each of our lives. However, I would never turn back time and wish her back... her time was done, and I am simply thankful for knowing her.

If we could look back on all of our memories this way, the good and the bad... wouldn't it be more pleasant for all of us?!

Times have changed, yes indeed. The Best Musicians today combine Classical Music and Rock and Roll together along with blues and other influences. They compete with one another. I consider Violinists as a prelude to Rock and Roll Guitarists.

Amazing Violinists Ann Marie Calhoun and Alex DePue performing with Steve Vai

A couple of years ago, I stumbled upon Within Temptation and they enthralled me enough for me to go out and get their CD's. I struggled in Australia obtaining them because they were not well known. However... I now own several of their CDs ...thanks to Amazon.

They seem to be that unique blend that you just talked about, John.

I once got to know the piano player on the Porter Waggoner show, and she offered to get me a backstage pass to see the show recorded and to meet the performers. Unfortunately, I didn't take her up on the offer. I would call her every night at 9 pm to talk to her on her radio show, and we would both look forward to the phone calls. She would even ask me to wait on the phone while she did the newscast. She was awesome!

Good Day Hugger,

I bet when you close your eyes, you can remember her music. The piano has an incredible ability to grasp your senses... I have always loved piano music and disliked organ music. smile Organ music never sounded as 'pure' to me.

Man, could she pound those ivories!! It's a wonder the piano held up at all! It wasn't neccessarily my style of music, although I liked the show itself, but I liked HER, and I can be very tolerant with a person's likes when I like somebody that much.

I find that choice of word interesting. Tolerant? I often find that by taking time to understand someone elses interests, it often expands my own.
