I have been alone for so long now, raising my kids, and now even though they have left home now, I would find it very difficult to have a live-in partner, as I am so used to doing everything for myself. It may sound selfish, but hey, I deserve it now. Would just be nice to have a partner who has their own accommodation etc, and we meet up every week or so for dinner, social outings and a bit of the woompa loompa.
I guess it all comes down to what are you being asked to give up and why. If its something unhealthy, then yeah.. perhaps. If its just nit picking then they can go get a life. JMO.

When handing yourself over to a person in a new intimate relationship, you are giving up part of yourself... your giving up being one to become two, therefore you are compromising and sharing yourself with another person.... what happens down the track is another issue .... dealing with various emotions whether good or bad or both, is how each of you want to develop the relationship. All relationships are built upon the ability to grow, compromise, respect and communicate... as well as accepting each others faults and inadequancies.... and if they can't or won't it means they only saw your superficially not as a whole person....

I have learned not to be so hasty in my judgement of people and have done exactly what I said I would not do!! I said I would not talk to anyone on CS that didn't have a foto on their profile and I did
and I also said I would not get into a distance relationship and I have but somehow we are making it work.
He is the calm one, I am the Drama Queen, but am learning to think before I make a hasty rash decisions and open my big mouth before I have to then take it back.
