venusenvy: Why dont you? You have NO experience in the matter yet you let fly with ridiculous opinions that have NO base in reality.

You seem to know what experience I have I think you don't. And I think you know you don't. You just don't know that I know that you know that you don't know.
micheldatt: I wonder why divorce rate in America is so high and its seen as normal or natural.well,i personally frown against divorce and would always frown against it.I'm not a preacher of God but why would anyone go into marriage swearing 'for better for worse and till death do us part' at the court of law and religious/Worship houses and few days ,months or years after dissolve their marriages..What ways do you think divorce can be reduced to a minimal or even avoided completely ?I personally think that materialistic couples have rough marriages than ever example is Kim Kardashian and Kris..what's your take on this ?
They soon realise than materialism does not bring happiness.
That is admirable, I read the link. I am not sure if you read some of the other numbers on it like the mortality of children being born and the life expectancies. the numbers went the other way. AS far as Divorce in India...and I am gathering that you are proud because of a lower number statistically in divorce rates of India. But, is it not true that for a women to become divorced in India she stands to lose everything including the support of family? I see evidence of a slow change, but I think that the low rates are because of the fear of destitution and/or the rejection that the woman most likely would have to live with. So, many women choose to live in a state of fear and by the hand of their husband. I would think that there are also many that are happily married there just as there are here too. I do think that Divorce is many times done in hast,,,or maybe the Marriage as well. But!! I do not think it is only in America and I think if someone wants to look at this closer they should also look and see how many of these divorces are at what age. To who are they married? is it marriages that are out of the country...there are so many different situations to look at.
lifeisadream: A ring? What if people can not afford a ring? No, I have not read Tolkien but I had been married for 24yr to the father of my children.
Yeah, well, that is what I mean. You think marriage is the only way to know about marriage. So that the knowledge is limited to the ring That's why I asked about Tolkiens influence rofl.
If you think you have to have been married to know about marriage and to have a opinion, then you must surely also think that you yourself, ending up divorced, is missing knowledge too, and we can easily recognize what knowledge.
Either way, I'm not to serious listening to divorced people, especially when they have decided that they are right.

Yeah what you said is correct to a good extent, there is definitely rejection in India for a divorced woman....but here we are taught by our elders to live together in all the good and bad times..we also have arranged marriages in India..which are definitely reducing these divorce rates...and also Indian laws on Divorce are bit Stringent...its not so easy to get Divorce!!

A very different world indeed, and I'm not saying one is better,,,just a lot different,,,I understand why people that don't get that can become critical in either situation...But I did not know so I at least read a little. There was a time when things were very different here,,,the 60's I know that even a child born out of wedlock was a big deal,,,on the other hand we as a nation kept a lot of things behind doors. before that of course we went through all kinds of changes,,,womens' rights...the whole racial deal,,,which is still ongoing,,just takes on a different form. in the 70's Black students were bussed to what was more predominately white schools for the sake of integration...and back then it was a special thing,,,today I can only imagine what people would say...so it is always evolving,,It is always different in one place than the other. Hope you have a good day. Niko.
felixis99: well people should not be forced to marry through an arranged marriage nor should they be prevented from divorce. women are not chattel
Sadly we are still waiting for parts of the wrold to wake up and catch up with the rest of us. I cant imagine anything more horrid than being a woman in a country like India

Ok. You might know much more than me about marriage and divorce, perhaps but for one thing I am sure:
You have not idea what it is to choose divorce as the only option left in a marriage, especially when there is a family that will be broken in pieces.
Asking for divorce to the father of my children –after 24 yr- I did think it over not one time but a million times in a period of 12 yr. Regrets I have a few and not had taken that decision earlier is one of them.
I hope you will never have to ask for divorce or being asked for.

Well, thank you, I don't wish that to happen to anyone either. Hard to keep messing because I did not know.
Maybe you wont believe me, but I think also I know what makes the world go round, and I have accepted its hardship in that conviction.
Its just about finding the right victim for me And getting the ring on while she is confused
