rivame: reminds me when my daughter went to private school...I used to drop her off and pick her up in my 20 year old toyota corolla with its battle scars and rust spots....my darling daughter said one day "mum cant you just drop me off outside of school up the road a little"...seems I looked a little out of place among the mercs and BMW...

My kids went to a private school and whined because they had to walk to and from school, usually with the 7 kids 4 doors down the road. Picked them up one day, but we had to walk to where I parked the car......3 doors from home was the closest spot I could find. After I made them take off their school bags, get in and do up their seatbelts (Why? it is only just up the road.) they never asked again.

daggyone: 1) Remove the archaic nanny laws like no drinking wine or beer at a BBQ, how un-Australian is that?

12) Export more coal

I think these 2 would encourage me to vote for Daggyone for President Prime Minister. Like my mate, Norm, it is only the first and last promise that anyone ever reads.frustrated frustrated

None of the other 'promises' will be achievable because "if we do that, then this won't be possible. Maybe in the next budget we will promise it again

just before the next election."

PrOwLeR_: I'd use the parliament to pressure judges into committing more serial offenders into prison ...

Also I'd introduce new laws and I mean not negotiable strict laws for house and car thieves, I loathe the fact we are out at work, doing our part for society whilst some are robbing our homes whilst we are busy doing so ..For Starters !! ...........................................

thumbs up thumbs up thumbs up Spot On!!!

VOTE 1 FOR PrOwLeR australia

So he can get judges to bang in jail, all them other PrOwLeRs sir bobby laugh cheers

tonyxf: Hu? Retiring age has always been 65 for men and 60 for women. Its just now you have the option of staying on?

This "retiring age" has always confused me. Women live longer by about 5 years but can start taking retirement 5 years before men. Isn't it really a form of descrimination? Are we not equal?

Okay, a bit of maths here. Dad started working at 14 (as he told me) and worked all his life. Mum worked for a few years until my brother was born when she was 21 and never worked again. Me being the softy I am, and enjoying the home comforts of everything done for you, meant she had to look after me until she was 46. And then she had to wait until she was 60 to "retire?"

Some women are demanding equality, and a hell of a lot deserve it, but there are so many conditions on this so-called equality.

- We need to stop working earlier because we are women.
- We need to have as many women working in the top jobs but you have to give us time out to raise a family and then when they are grown up, we want to run the company withour those intervening years impeding
- We only want to work 10 - 3 so we can balance our work-family life commitments and why should that stop us running the company/country?

I have a guy at work for nominally 4 hours per week. They made the choice that his wife was the real bread-winner in the family and he would look after the children. I do everything I can to stretch it out for him where I can.

I also have a woman on my staff who I have made it possible for her to have her work-family commitment suit both of us. After a full committed year by her, and a bit of shafting by the organisation, we have managed to come up with 3 days in the office and 1 day from home. She stills manages the equivelant of 5 normal work days in just 4 days. Although she did call in for a sickie today on her "work from home" today. And I will approve it knowing how much she really gives to the organisation.

I would stop the migrant intake until ever Australian who wanted to work regardless of age etc had a job and then allow migrants in only to fill the vacancies.I would also cut the CEO pay packets.

That wouldn't work as only so many Australians want to work away from their families up in the mines

Work for the Dole is a great idea. But some wouldn't vote for it because they get paid now to sit on their bums.

Back in early 80s, they had the RED Schemes going at Local Councils. Jobs had to be high labour content and wages were on par with what labourers earnt. Great for Council's as a lot of footpaths and kerb & gutter was built. But it did take about 5 times as long as Council workers to get the job done (Yeah, that slow).

One of the guys at work had a sister wanting to get onto the RED Scheme but the Commonwealth Employment Service (CES) wouldn't send her. The Council Supervisor went to the CES and asked if she could be sent over for an interview. He was told that they had sent her 4-5 notices to go for interviews but she never went. Crap big time there. It would appear that the CES guy was either just sending his mates, or maybe getting a kick-back confused................ about her being sent for interviews.
