I often wonder about todays society.....have we created a bunch of non handlers???

My parents put me through school with no government assistence and I mananged to do the same thing with my children. I was far from rich but some how we managed.

It does seem unfair that we pay taxes to help raise other peoples kids dunno

Yeah I'm pissed about it too mumbling

Especially when I read a piece in the paper, Mum raving about how the next handout is going to be sooo helpful ..

Her husband, two kids and her live on the leafy North Shore of Sydney, properties there are worth gazillions and most of them drive their kids to (private) school in a big shiny 4WD??

Gimme a break doh

rivame: BY some miracle neither Julia Gillard or Tony Abbott were available to be elected and YOU found yourself as the new Prime Minister.....

What would you do to make Australia a better place ????

I'd use the parliament to pressure judges into committing more serial offenders into prison ...

Also I'd introduce new laws and I mean not negotiable strict laws for house and car thieves, I loathe the fact we are out at work, doing our part for society whilst some are robbing our homes whilst we are busy doing so ..

For Starters !! ........................................... tongue

I would probably also introduce road safety education for Mummies Daddies and Kiddies so that they can take some responsibility instead of drivers getting slammed for doing 41 kph outside schools wine

If I had wanted to contribute vast sums of money to the Policemans Ball, I would have let someone know thumbs up

1) Remove the archaic nanny laws like no drinking wine or beer at a BBQ, how un-Australian is that?

2) Allow people to operate shops, business from their own homes without any permits or public liability insurance
Allow people to sell fruit and vegetables on the footpaths of any town from push carts without the need to pay any fees or red tape to do so. (put a stack of home veggie sellers outside Woolworths hehehe)

3) Get rid of the minimum pay rate for sub 20yo's and allow the market to set them, ie: let business flourish and employ all the unemployed youth to give them their first work experience as some sub 20yo have never done a days work because of the lucrative social security payments

4) Invest $20 Billion green the centre of Australia using Lake Argyle and a network of solar pumps and pipes to irrigate a food bowl to feed our asian neighbours as their economies go from 3rd world to industrial middle income earners

5) work out a way to cut the mining areas off from the rest of Australia to lower our $AU so our farmers and manufacturers can compete on an even level.

6) build 350km/hr railways over the Great Dividing Range from Melb, Sydney, & Brisbane to open up that part of the country to new development giving people cheap land to build a home and a quick commute to their workplace.

7) Put a GST on all imported goods bought online like some American states are doing on Amazon and Ebay

8) Allow homeowners a housing payment similar to the lowest rental allowance paid to the unemployed, they have to pay housing costs too when they're unemployed

9) Bring the cane back to litter droppers and chewing gum on seat stickers + other laws that work well in countries like Singapore

10) Allow more holidays for families and school holidays, get away from the casual style employment where people never take a break and their families miss out on family holidays together, this is so un-Australian

11) Ban fracking

12) Export more coal

reminds me when my daughter went to private school...I used to drop her off and pick her up in my 20 year old toyota corolla with its battle scars and rust spots....my darling daughter said one day "mum cant you just drop me off outside of school up the road a little"...seems I looked a little out of place among the mercs and BMW...

Some good points Daggy ..particularly liked the above one.....

They also need to bring back means tests for people buying homes...its all to easy now to buy and too many then loose their homes because their budget is stretched to breaking point
