I've not been on here very long so was hoping to ask the more experienced for their opinions.

I was wondering what your take is on meeting up. Who has had meet-ups? Were they a good/bad idea? How soon after first contact did u meet the person?

Thanks in advance :)

Ah get to meeting as soon as you can. Then there's less chance of building up unrealistic expectations. Lol. That's a dangerous part of the world you're dating in there...some real predators from this site live down there...ruffians!!! laugh

I met a few off of here a few of them were strange and
a few of them were sound sure no harm meeting someone
once youve got to know them first .

When you feel comfortable enough talking to the person then
the time is right for meeting them conversing

Met a few and had no issues with regards them being physco's and/or liars, the one thing I have found in common is that no matter how well you get on in the 'virtual' world that you really dont know someone (no matter how much you really think you do!) until you're sitting across a table from them, its then you know if theres a spark or anything to work on handshake

Good idea, yeah, sure, and resonably soon too so that you dont start jumping to false assumptions or creating images in your head only to be let down by the above stated reason. But, obviously you have to meet up when you feel its right and are comfortable cheers

Hey neighbour wave

cswelcome

Get through a few emails back and forth. If it still sounds kosher move on to adding him as a friend on FB, then phone numbers. If all sounds safe/friendly/relaxed then go and arrange to meet. There's no rush. You're young still!

Is it really a good idea to add someone on FB straight away? if he or she turns out to be a psycho god forbid, or just someone with issues they then might have access to your friends and relatives?

I didn't say straight away. It's easy to have your friends list hidden. And as Sky said, unfriend and block if necessary if it becomes a problem.

I dont even give my surname until after I have actually meet someone lol.

As to the OP, I have meet lots of people from here, some after a couple of weeks of mails some after a few days, if it appears that we might get on I see no reason not to meet sooner rather than later as its only then you can really tell. First meet, usually coffee during the day then we can both decide if we want to meet again.

I wouldnt add anyone onto Facebook until I was comfortable enough with them after exchanging a number of messages and then wouldnt meet until I was happy enough having seen their FB (from which you can get a good gauge of them), chatted somemore, talked on the phone etc. I tend to only have people I actually known on my fb list, so, if its a case that contact starts to die or we dont get on then they are.......dispatched uh oh comfort
