By the way...before the US gets trashed for keeping some NZ ships from berthing in Hawii.....a great stop by the way.

The US has NZ on it "most favored non NATO ally" list.

This is the same list of allies as ....Israel, Egypt, Afghanistan, Brazil.....it give the country a preferred status on weapons purchase in time of threat and give them US funding for them.....

Sure........all things that America does is for a route or a resource - like when US sent their navy ship hospital to Haiti after the earthquake - that was just for US benefit..... or any other time that US has reached out to countries in need with funds and their own resources to help out - americans are the most generous in the world to reach out to help others in need - sometimes they back the wrong cause - and sometimes "no good deed goes unpunished"

Sooooo, is the US still snubbing us because of our Nuclear Free policy?
Bit petty isn't it?

Actual quote is;

""Every nation in every region now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists.""

And I would be hard put to find a nation on earth that does not cooperate to some degree in this fight against terrorism. Hence it appears that pretty much every nation on earth is in the former category rather than the latter.

If you read the quote properly it is not discussing humanitarian aid, which NZ contributes to countries in need also, but to military invasions. Americans are not THE most generous in the world, they are generous. As are we. And if you want to have a competition, per population we are probably more generous. But frankly, that is not the debate.

galrads: Coming from what, exactly? Call me stupid all you like. Nothing anyone says on CS means doodles anyways. Don't sweat the small chit.

As far as the USA, it's not perfect but there's no other place else on this earth, I've visited to date, that I'd rather live. ITaly comes close, but that's probably only because I have citizenship there also.

And Like Dorothy said, "there's no place like home."
I wasn't calling you stupid.
I was saying, in response to you putting Ray down for expressing his opinion that not everything the US does is absolutely fantastic. Just because he disagrees with things his country does, does not make him less of an American, and less of a lover of his country.
I find it interesting that your citizens take any criticism of your countries political policies and activities very personally, and any criticism of such, as though it is to yourself, and your beautiful land, hence my post.
I think "cant see the wood for the trees" is an apt term.

Bluefish22: Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house

I have been reading this and the allegations being made towards the USA.
Now I know that a few posts up there is a supporter of your thread that will support anything you say as long as it says something to make the USA look bad. I don't know how the men and women on the ships and subs are feeling today but I would not be surprised if they are way past this,,and thus it does seem to be rather petty. Petty that this is still bumping around like some other threads I seem to remember. I suppose we choose who we are buddies with around here,,,,I have been run down by the golden boys and their cohorts. Too bad so many just have to take every chance they can to give another put down to USA actions.
there's my 10 cents.
thumbs down

My two cents are that nuclear weapons have saved between a few million to well over a billion lives and that people who are so petty that they deem themselves above what has protected them for over a half century now blame those who have done so obviously don't have a grip on reality.

That's fine, there are enough of us who do that make up for those who would sell out to destruction.

And don't 'snub' those who have enabled you to live there. Being free has a cost. You would not have a military if you did not feel that there was a possible enemy and, let's face it, any enemy you might have is a lot bigger than yourself (Indonesia, China) thus the need for the US to be an ally.

An ally your have 'snubbed' for decades.

So, don't throw stones my dear. You people are just starting to make progress and you want to tear it down. professor

If you read her statement properly using all the previous hubris in context you would realize that she was rebutting the comment that the US only took action when there was a material gain to be realized.

And, she blew that silly contention out of the water. Now, the debate has been concluded as you have agreed with me that the US has not 'snubbed' the NZ Navy but rather has been the victim for over two decades of being snubbed themselves. Why you insist on attempting to tack your own thread off topic I have no idea but, thank you for agreeing with me nonetheless.

]shazam .... your U.S.A. thread-bashing friend takes every chance he can on CS to bash the U.S.A. Nothing new about that. Why he hates most everything about the U.S.A. is everyone's best guess. Maybe he is less an American because he hates the U.S.A. Thus my unanswered question of him?

Bluefish22: US won't let us berth our ships with the rest of the International fleet. We have to park round the corner. They were hoping we weren't gonna find out till we got there, but someone spilled the beans too early.

So they were allowed to find a place to dock but you won't let US ships in at all, kind of seems like you got better treatment here than we do there and you're complaining.

Bluefish22: Correct Alberta, we helped in Iraq and Afghanistan, as we have never ceased acting as a friend and ally of the US, whether they treat us as such or not, and because we are part of the Commonwealth.
Seems your childish answers show you have no idea what you're talking about. As is the behaviour of the US, childish.
Tit for tat then you say Alberta?
I agree.

When a friend comes to my house I invite him in and find a seat for him, I don't tell him I don't want him coming to my house.

Bluefish22: Oh, I didn't realise you were part of the US Navy and privy to berthing information Alberta.
See, I would have preferred that someone with knowledge, would have come up and said "Nah mate, they just didn't have enough parking spaces at Pearl, and your ships are so old we thought we'd do you a favour and berth you a few miles closer to home."

But no, Alberta, you are really just reiterating what I have said, that the US Navy is a cry baby, and plays tit for tat, even after all these years.
We still have their spy base down south, and we still let them come here for their training stuff.!
e have never snubbed the US Navy, it just happens that we believe in our planet, we love Mother Earth, and we are a Nuclear Free Zone.

A cry baby, you're the one that's doing all the complaining (crying), and keeping the US Navy from your ports isn't snubbing? You didn't have a cause in the first place and you're killing your agument yourself, you say something then say something that is just the opposite or contradicts what you said before.

Many lack this basic intelligence

Many show their lack of intelligence because they don't check facts before they post something that is just bs, you need to actually find out what is going on before posting something, don't just depend on other uninformed sources.
