The wild weather that closed roads and downed power lines across Tasmania is easing but the weather bureau is warning of another cold snap to come.

Workers from energy provider Aurora had to reconnect about 500 homes after power lines were brought down by high wind.

Ice and snow created hazardous conditions. The worse hit areas were Spring Hill, Woodbury and St Peters Pass on the Midland Highway, the Murchison Highway at Tullah and Olivers Tourist Road near Mole Creek.

At Cape Bruny wind gusts reached 60 kilometres per hour.

We have two volcanoes going now , this area missed the free sulfa last time . Big boon to peasants a good dose of sulfa so long as its not too deep . What is it that wombats do that causes trouble for farmers as I could not think of a more benign ( having trouble finding the right word here )animal that looks just plain harmless .

Yes i noticed White Island was letting off steam

Wombat, dig holes big enough a large dog could easily walk in, dig into river banks but also in the middle your paddock, which easily break horses leg, they eat grass, run straight through a mess fence, when they can they dig hole under it big enough for a good size calf could walk straight through. If you were to hit one on the road with a car, like a big it would roll under car and could easily dip it over.
They have mange which dogs chasing them often catch.
