In a previous post,you stated that Sweden was in need of 110000 engineers,(or was it 1100?),-but where did you get that from?In which sectors?
Since I worked in the telecom sector,I can assure you,no 1000´s of engineers are/where needed....
As for forein students,as you also mentioned,-until recently,they where financed with tax payers money,-and so far,it´s been a waste...

You should better ask this question from those who are bringing number of students from south asia into swedish universities,I have seen number of student arrived from my region there.In which sectors?

Simple answer is,-people are different,and so are cultures,-I share alot with European culture,since I´m European,-and absolutely nothing with somebody else...With that said,I don´t disrespect or disregard anyone,-everyone should be free to sustain their culture,-on their own turf...

I used to work for a Finnish Company. Been in Finland loads of times. We travelled North to one of the manufacturing sites. And as any self respecting Irish man went to the local metal bar (Finns love their Metal music) to sample the Lapin Kulta. A Finnish Major came to me and asked me was there any Swedish people in the group... he was drunk as a skunk.
He told me he hated them. The Swedish Speaking Finn (they are a substantial group in Finland and are resented) who WAS in our group had to pretend he was German. That's right. He had to pretend he was German in his own country. He got away with it 'cos he was stationed in a German manufacturing facility and could pull off the German accent speaking English as opposed to a Swedish-Finn speaking English.
